What are the Immortals equipped with?
How are you going to deal with armor given that your strongest weapon are S7 AP - shots? A single Tachyon arrow doesn't count as you still don't have that reliable of a chance to bust AV13/14.
1) A solar pulse would do much better than the Veil.
2) Instead of 2x4 destroyers, I'd suggest something like 3x1 or 3x2 Heavy Destroyers.
3) Also I'd drop the Tachyon Arrow.
You dont have any melee units which will mean that your entire infantry line will get facerolled and opened up like cans by any close combat armies.
No matter how much shooting you have, you will always get into close combat and trust me, you dont know how much havoc a single close combat unit of assault marines with captain and lots of power weapons can do + sweeping advance to your whole army once they start their chainsaws.
Must have in the new list:
-5 Wraiths with whipcoils for Close combat.
-2-3 Spiders for close combat support, exellent for holding back that Carnifex or Hive T-yrant you didnt get too shoot down before it was within charge range.
Don`t use destroyers for killing armor save 3 infantry, you wil need some anti armor instead, so Heavy Destroyers.
If you really really want a strong shooting army, then you must have a monolith, so you can get your infantry models to safety and away from close combat.
Make sure you destroy Rhinos/trucks so that they cant embark and will have to footslog all the way to you.

H Destroyers = Heavy Destroyers (x3) - S9 AP2 shots, they are in the list, under the Destroyers.

the more CC units i put in the less room for shooting, and i was really going for a nice gunline. although I think im going to make 2 units of 2 H Destroyers, and 1 unit of 5 Destroyers, which gives me another 60pts so i will probably pump up the warriors to 19 strong with the cryptec.
with all these guass shots i should be able to handle rhinos and other transports, i hope
i also just ran a very similar list and beat up some dark angles death wing army (all terminators) if that isnt a close combat army i dont know what is.
yes i may lose a unit or two to CC but im sure the havoc im going wrecked on his unit/army before he got there i may have a chance to beat them in CC??? cant expect to table my random opponent every time?
So you can potentially kill two vehicles on turn one and then one vehicle for the next several turns while your barges and gauss glance stuff? 3 - 4 Landraiders aren't what you should be worrying about. - 5 Razorbacks, three dreadnoughts

And a 20-man squad that Veils is just begging to be pie-plated. Seriously a direct hit from a large-blast will nail almost all of them. And sweeping advance will hurt like hell when (not if, when) an assault unit hits them.Don't bet on it, you're looking at 1.1 - 1.6 glances per squad while they're at full strength.....and they won't be for long. Good luck glancing a bunch of vehicles to death....many of which will either sit back and shoot since you don't have a solar pulse to force them to move. Your sweet-spot range is just inside the 24" mark if you move to get in range that's a lot of shots you're not getting.with all these guass shots i should be able to handle rhinos and other transports, i hope
i have tried the tesla and the guass with the immortals, and i have to say the guass is where its at, this threatens vehicles and troops of all armies, yeah it doesnt outright kill marines, but with the higher S than the bolters i should kill more marines than they can do back to me, plus the re-animation protocols can possibly work for me time to time?
yeah im pretty new to 40k, like only 2 games in the past 3 months and before that like 10 years ago, point being i haven been graced with an army of tanks, so far ive fought dark eldar and deathwing (dark angels build) so i feel at the moment im ok with "tank killing power" but im sure i will learn the hard way.
basically im using destroyers because i havent used them yet, and i would like to try these guys out once or twice before i write them off as usless, i have like 12 of em and last game i played i used 8 Preatorians (320pts), and they worked great, so i think 200pts worth of destroyers will be ok, thats 36" range (w/ movement) S5 AP3 shots, very mobile/deadly and i feel they can fill in the gaps where needed with this mobility/shooting. BEFORE you go crazy i just wanted to say that there will be future lists (i wont post them all lol) and they wont always have destroyers i havent even tried scarabs yet!! this book has a lot to be tested, field tested.
you use too much math hammer lol, with future lists i will take all this into consideration, and i will let you guys know how this little tournament turns out, first one down at a game store in a LONG TIME! thanks for the tips and support guys!

well, you were right lol, i played dark eldar last night, and they tabled me, they got first turn and shot down my barges and my ghost arc, not to mention how the F does all of their guns have poison??? seriously. on top of that i dont think i rolled a 5 or 6 in the first 2 game turns which will ruin any gamers day.

im playing the dark angel player on friday, and i have completely redone my list.
so now it looks something like:
Destroyer lord: 170 - res orb - weave
Praetorians: 280 - 7 - RoC
Cryptec: 55 - HoDispear - veil, this worked really well for me last game, although next time im going to wait till the end and deep strike them onto an objective.
immortals: 170- tesla (one game guass works for me the next not so much lol)
cryptec: 55 - HoDestruction - eldrich lance - solar pulse
warriors: 195 - 15
Destroyers: 160 - 4 (these guys work really well)
Heavy Destroyers: 120 - 2
Heavy Destoryers: 120 - 2
Doomsday Arc: 175
so ima set the Arc up WAY back as much as possible, but keep the rest kinda close, i need the praetorians to be able to get around to the corners of my army at the drop of a hat. ive seen these guys waste terminators and with the lord i think i can make this unit a real thorn in my opponents side.
i learned a lot about necrons last night and seem to learn more and more, hopefully i can sneak in 2 more game before the sat tournament because i need some practice!
ok for those still reading... so i didnt have a chance to play a second practice game to try my "new" list out, so i just went into the tournament with high hopes and little confidence lol. my list was a little different than above, only because i dont have 4 heavy destroyers, so i dropped one Heavy destroyer and put in another regular destroyer, and i took off the weave and gave him the T. arrow. came out to 1500pts.
anyways i came in second, with a record of 2-0-1, i drew my first game (figuring out how my game plan on the fly lol) was against ultra marines, lots of tanks and dreds we rolled off and i got advanced to the winners bracket (there was 16 players) second game i played grey knights and he ran all paladins with some special character, but he brought in each unit of 3 one at a time so it was really easy to just pump all my fire into the unit and have my Praetorians clean up the survivors. game 3 was against blood angels, he couldnt deep strike in anything due to all the dangerous terrain so he had to come to me since i was out shooting them.
all 3 games i had the first turn, which helped out a lot, doomsday arc + solar pulse is awesome.
veil+ immortals with teslas = awesome
the high T of the praetorians and D Lord was also really awesome, prevented alot of damage form happening and they never fought a full strength unit thanks to my shooting troops
im loving both types of destroyers completely.
