    1000pt Tau vs Necrons/Dark Eldar

    Hello all,

I am looking for some feedback on my army list as my friends and I have all decided to get back into 40K after the new Necron release. As I wrote this Tau list I couldn't help but feel that Suits were the default choice and as I drafted a 1500 and 2000point list for the future all I seemed to do was increase the amount of X8's i had. To clarify the Necron player likes the new vehicles available and is a fan of monoliths, and the Dark Eldar player predictably rushes me with CC units in raiders while trying to dark-lance my suits.

    the current 1000pt list is:

    HQ:
Shas'o with HWMT, HWTL, AFP, DC (2SD), MP - 147pts

    Elite:
3 Fireknives (All Team Leader with Arrays and HWMT) - 77each for 231pt total

    Troops:
    3x10 Vanilla Firewarriors - 100each for 300pts

    Heavy Support:
2x Hammerhead with Rail, DP, MT, 2Burst - 165 each for 330pt total

Total - 1008 (Yes i have to remove 8 points somewhere)

Any help would be appreciated as this is pretty much made out of the models I currently own ( I also have 16 kroot, 3man stealth team, a devilfish, and a handful of drones - thank you battleforce )

Thanks in advance, sorry if i posted points in a way i wasnt meant to

    HQ - Shas'el Commander: 127 Points.
Airbursting fragmentation projector, missile pod, targeting array, hard-wired multi-tracker, hard-wired drone controller.
    2 shield drones.

ELITES - Crisis Team: 77 Points.
Shas'ui team leader with plasma rifle, missile pod, targeting array, hard-wired multi-tracker.

    TOTAL: 988 Points

You are using the third hard point on your commander for a drone controller which is a waste. Better off taking a shas'el with a TA. Also it has a target lock which is only useful if he joined a unit which seems unlikely to me.

I hope you don't mind, I reformatted your list I write mine. If you still want the TL put it back.

    Wow, so neat....
The target lock was purely so I could frag one unit and missile pod another if need be, esp. against Dark Eldar for more anti transport, but it was as much filler as anything.

Any outstanding flaws in the list, i feel rather generic but i guess thats what works.

    Cheers

A target lock on infantry or a crisis suit doesn't allow it to fire its weapons at different enemies, but to target a separate enemy unit from that targeted by the rest of it's own unit.
