    1250 - Wolfbrothers Primer for the CoC at Sac

    So I'm thinking of running this army that I'm about to Post for the Contest of Champions at great escape games in Sacramento California

    Tyranid Prime - 100 pts
    Bonesword x 2, Scything Talons

    Lictor Brood - XX

    Hormagaunt brood (20) - 200
    Adrenal Glands, Toxin Sacs


    Hormagaunt brood (20) - 200
    Adrenal Glands, Toxin Sacs

    Tyranid Warrior Brood (9) - 315
    Adrenal Glands

    Mawloc - 180
    Adrenal Glands

    Mawloc - 180
    Adrenal Glands

    So out of a 30 this army will comp at a 28, gaining one excemptment and loosing two points of comp for the second mawloc, this is an escalation tournament taking place once a month

    Close-combat is a terrible way to try and kill vehicles. And if you did go about it that way, a Trygon is much better. You're going to want some ranged anti-vehicle in there....at 1250 4-6 hive guard would probably be best.

    Yeah, you can't deal with vehicles currently. At all. Also 9 warriors! Bit overkill don't you think? The first vindicator or Leman Russ that shows up will one shot them all to hell and back. You don't need more than 5 or 6 and thats absolutely pushing it. Also you want to give them rending.

    If you lose the lictor (bit pointless on its own) and one of the mawlocs you can get 4 Hive guard with change which you desperately need. If you then take the warriors down a few, you've got the points to turn that mawloc into a trygon prime, which you really need considering the entire army only has one synapse source! Even then Id still be very very worried about synapse problems.

    3 Hive guard is still a bit too few. 2 broods of 2 would be much better. Also you still need rending on those warriors. You can't really worry about comp with nids sadly, we don't have the capacity to have a good list and get good comp scores, ridiculous as they are.

    Lose prime from one of the trygons, adrenal glands from both and a hormaguant. That should get you enough for another Hive Guard, plus rending on those warriors.

    Prime, Two units of 3 Hive Guard

    two units of 20 hormagaunts, With AG

    tyranid warrior Brood 5 strong, Rending Claws, Scything talons

    two units of 4 Spore mine clusters

    1 Trygon prime AG


    So I gave my warriors rending, I dropped the second trygon prime because this caused my comp to go from 30 to, 17, this way it keeps at a perfect comp of 30

    God I hate comp scores I really do. Right spore mines are useless. I mean really, truly monumentally useless. If your going to go down that route, investigate biovores. I believe you can get two without breaking the 25% limit. You should have the points for it if you lose those mines.

    I honestly think it's really funny that comp scores hurt the weaker armies (Nids, Tau, etc) and benefit the stronger ones.

    Comp scores are absolutely worthless and it's a complete joke to call an event that uses comp scores a "tournament". Especially something as pretentiously named as "Contest of Champions" when soft scores are such a huge part of it.

    I would honestly suggest you not play in this event. If people actually refused to play in drivel like this then we might actually get some decent, competitive tournaments going.

    And just read the comp scoring. Several of the "items" also aren't very clear. What a joke.
