Welcome to Librarium Online!
Hey guys Im new to tyranids I just got a battleforce and am going to be playing in an escalation league starting in mid January. First month is 500pts and I need some suggestions at what to add to my battleforce (I want to use as much of the battleforce as possible). I want to go with a horde type army. Any suggestions?
This is the list I came up with:
2 Hive Gaurd 100pts
16 gants 80pts
14 gaunts 112pts
w/ toxic sacs
8 stealers 112pts
I went with the prime over the Tervigon because I dont have the time or money to convert one at the moment (carnifex $50+conversion kit $25), especially when I already have to spend $50 on the Hive Gaurd. I will probably invest in one at 1000pts next month. With this list I use a big chunk of the battleforce.
So what do you guys think....any minor tweaks?
Looks pretty solid from here. I assume the gaunts with toxin sacks are hormogaunts?
You have 3 objective holders, and some nice anti tank. Though I would suggest taking the 2 hive guard in separate squads, that way one can guard an objective (obviously not hold it, but it can still keep enemies at bay), though at 500 pts tanks aren't usually much of a threat, they can be used to catch people off guard (usually nothing more than a devilfish or a rhino though).
But yeah, list looks like a solid start, though against gunline armies you'd struggle, as there's only one fast moving unit (the hormies), and the rest would have to march up, but still, seems a good start.

ooh ok, 500 point lists are hard for nids. Though this looks pretty much like what I would take. Though give the stealers the toxin sacs, they benefit from it soo much more than the hormagaunts. Admittedly it leaves you with 5 points spare . . . maybe swap the primes deathspitter for toxin, ag or regen?
As for tervigon, why pay $25 for a conversion kit? I made mine with spares, greenstuff and a lone gaunt poking out of a birthing sac (for want of a better word). Carnifex base is fine, though I have seen ppl use trygons and such.
