Going to reply to this one as its easier to read
I think you're muddling your XV8 teams and HQ's roles too much, if the HQs are running solo then they're going to be in the face of the enemy with little to no support, as they're range 6" to be completely effective and everything else is at least 18" range
Whereas with the XV8's, burst cannons are anti-infantry and missile pods are anti-transport, you're also at bs3 with all of them with no markerlight support to boost their BS, the first XV8 team just confuses the hell out of me
Your two fire warrior teams had better hope nothing ever goes near them or in any objective mission you're screwed, if I was playign against you in an objective mission, I would focus everything on those two, small squads and wipe them out/break them and then you basically auto-lose as you can't capture an objective, the best you can hope for is a draw
And finally, (imo) sniper drone teams are useless
edit: Oh and you have no tanks, so allt he enemy anti-tank weaponry is going to be shooting at your broadsides first and then your XV8s, if the broadsides die in turn 1 or 2 then your only anti-tank (not transport) is coming from two fusion blasters

Yeah, i need to invest in a hammerhead and some kroot support, i just need to decide where i am going with this before spending that much.
Personally, I'd suggest a hammerhead, one or two devilfish and some kroot definitely...
The battleforce is actually really good value, you get an XV8 (£15), 12 warriors (£20), 12 kroot (£20 for 16, so about £15 worth) a Devilfish (£20) and 3 stealthsuits - which admittedly won't see much use - (£14) all for £60, or from somewhere like total wargamer / wayland for about £45-50 with postage or even cheaper off ebay
Apart from the stealth suits, you'll easily use everything there in every single game
After that its just a case of getting mitts on 1293 more () XV8s and some tankage
ive been thinking about the battleforce, and i definitely agree on the hammerhead....im just not so sure about 1-2 devilfishes (what would i put in them if i want my fw to keep distance).
6 firewarriors really arent going to do much anyway and sticking them in a fish gives you a resilient (with pod), scoring unit
Also, when you get around to get pathfinders (which you will, they're awesome) then you'll need a devilfish for them anyway
I'll be posting a list, that is still 1000 pts but a completely different army.
Hopefully itll be better.
