Anything that stands out as being ridiculous or unnecessary?
As the title states, this is a purely theoretical list, but one I would be interested in fielding in the future.
I like your list layout. Very nice!
Anything above 3000 points and you should be considering adding Elites and/or Heavy Support slots to your FOC. Three Tyrannofexes is a lot, but at this size you'll need it.
If you give yourself four Elite slots then you can have three broods of two Hive Guard and a few Zoeys in a Mycetic Spore.
Now for some pointers:
- This kind of list is begging for the Swarmlord. Also Scything Talons on your Tyrant will do you much better than LW and BS.
- The generally accepted Psychic Power for Tervigons is Catalyst (for FNP) as this makes your Termagants that much more survivable. They don't need to run and shoot. They do need the extra save, however. This is all to do with your own play style though - if you find it easier to win with Onslaught then so be it.
- I would perhaps replace a Gargoyle Brood with five or six Raveners. They're cooler.
- I'm a bit iffy on the Acid Spray. Try out all three guns, and see what you like and/or what you need.
- Just get rid of the Venomthrope Brood. If six Hive Guard can barely cut it at 2500, how do you expect them to cut it at 3500?
Really, if you think about this from a practical and fluff perspective, you need the extra Heavy Support and/or Elites slots. I find an additional slot per 250 points in either Elites, Fast Attack, or Heavy Support after 3000 is a good system, although you might want to change this to per 500 points.
It's purely up to you mate. If it's non-competitive, I'd suggest a themed army, and build some fluff behind it. It makes the game that much more fun.
Hadn't realised they my terv were running onslaught, I copy/pasted from another list - they should be running catalyst.
I did consider the swarmlord, but for the points cost, and the lack of ranged stuff means hes going to be useless till T3.
As for scything on the other tryrant, its why im using old adversary - pref enemy and to friendlies as well. the lash whip is the more important bit of that tbh, cos i dont like going at the same time as SM characters.
A game of this size would only ever be friendly, at which point we could and probably would rewrite the foc, but untill such time as this list become playable (still 30 gants short and 20 goyles) ill stick to the standard chart.
I'd like to use raveners, but in practical terms the 90 gaunts are gonna take up all 8" of board on thier own, and im just not going to have room to get the raveners into position but the gargoyles ignore the masses when moving, so I can get away with it. plus for the points cost of 1 ravener with rending i get 4 poisoned gargoyles, who on av will do more damage (or should at any rate)
Venomthropes, again I wouldn't normally use, but recently zoans havent been cutting the bacon for me, and a single venom literally saved my ass last saturday. if ignored they can be a major pain for your opponent. all of a sudden your hordes have a 4/5+ cover and fnp. DE hated me for it.
Final point, the acid spray is just in case I dont meet a full mech army. Played a mostly infantry necron aarmy recently and I couldnt get him out of his ruins, the acid spray would have done wonders, since its 2 dead scarab bases per hit, and dead warriors on 2's also. likewise non-mech guard, tau, orcs etc all hate it.
I'd like to have a theme, but its not like we have set lists for various hive fleets or the various stages of invasion. though if anything this would be a very middle of the battle, resisting a counter attack kind of army. What would you think?
Very sound reasoning. Did you do debating in school? You prove your points well, and that deserves rep. Which I already gave to you earlier on...
The only thing I don't agree with is your statement about the Zoanthropes - they've worked wonders for me, but you need to be careful with them.
Best of luck!
