    1500 Fun list, Semi-Comp

    Hello everybody,

here is my typical 1500 list I play ATM, I'm quite happy with it: it is meant to have fun and sometimes it flukes because of bad reserve rolls but it is also capable of winning clearly.

The idea about this list is that my Archon leads a circus group who does it's act in the real world to entertain himself and the Dark Eldar back in his Kabal, who follow the battles through video-links.

I am looking for new ideas from you to keep this list semi-competitive vs all type of lists.

I'm personally thinking about adding scourges but I find them too fragile, certainly at 1500 points and my Reavers do surprise me with their performance: the other day they killed a Deamon Prince: shooting it one turn to put 3 wounds on it and during his turn he charged them but they finished him off

    El Maestro (1#, 145 pts)
. . 1 Archon, 145 pts (Plasma Grenades; Electrocorrosive Whip; Haywire Grenades; Ghostplate Armour; Combat Drugs; Soul-trap; Shadow Field)

    Pain Masters (2#, 170 pts)
    . . 1 Haemonculus, 170 pts (Power Weapon; Liquifier Gun x1; Webway Portal x1)
    . . . . 1 Haemonculus (Venom Blade; Liquifier Gun x1)

    Pain Guard (10#, 200 pts)
    . . 8 Wracks, 200 pts (Liquifier Gun x1)
    . . . . 1 Acothyst
. . . . 1 Raider (Shock Prow; Enhanced Aethersails; Night Shields; Flickerfield)

    Turquoise Gladiators (9#, 226 pts)
    . . 7 Wyches, 226 pts (Shardnet & Impaler x1; Haywire Grenades)
    . . . . 1 Hekatrix (Haywire Grenades; Agoniser)
. . . . 1 Raider (Shock Prow; Enhanced Aethersails; Night Shields; Flickerfield)

    Kabalite Warriors (6#, 135 pts)
    . . 5 Kabalite Warriors, 135 pts (Blaster x1)
    . . . . 1 Venom (Splinter Cannon; Night Shields)

Fast Attack: Reavers (6#, 171 pts)
    . . 5 Reavers, 171 pts (Heat Lance x2)
    . . . . 1 Arena Champion (Venom Blade)

    The Beasts (16#, 204 pts)
    . . 4 Beastmasters, 204 pts
    . . . . 8 Khymerae
    . . . . 4 Razorwing Flocks

    Crowd Pleaser (1#, 120 pts)
    . . 1 Talos Pain Engine, 120 pts (Chain-flails; TL Heat Lance)

    El Maestro's Boat (1#, 125 pts)
    . . 1 Ravager, 125 pts (Night Shields; Flickerfield)

The WWP goes with the wracks and Archon and other Heamy join the Wyches.

    Thank you for your C&C!

I like the premise - I do a similar list and call it the Karnival of Pain. I use the Baron and Hellions in a 2k list which I feel really excel in a wwp list and fall into character as trapeze artists.

I also would recommend "the clowns", a squad of harlequins that will often escort the wwp carrier if not go into the portal - again, they are a unit I feel work ideally in wwp lists.

Another elite choice would be, "the strong men" - a squad of Grotesques but that is usually when the ringleader is Urien, not the Baron.

As for the Scourges, I think you are correct in thinking they are fragile but that depends on what you want them to do. I have no problem with them being fragile as long as I always get first shot with them. In a WWP list I declare 5 scourges with heatlances as "deepstriking" and use them primarily through the portal (depending if I think I can deepstrike for a rear armor shot). Sure, they are disposable in this nature but essentially I am exchanging 134 points for what I deem a worthy armored target. I do not care for blasters or dark lances when I can get 2 heatlances in the list - they just have to achieve their first target in order to be worth it. If you just can't get over the sacrificial nature of heatlances then haywire blasters would probably be your best fit. They can come out of the portal but do not need to get very close due to the range of the haywire blaster and the haywire blaster is pretty darn reliable for "stun-locking" every turn. I do prefer destroying a tank versus stunning it every turn but I think you can protect them from their fragile nature more if you keep them back while your beasts and bikes move forward. With only 130 points for a pair of haywire blaster scourges, for fun? Heck yah!
