Welcome to Librarium Online!
During one of my very infrequent runs to get something from GW, I ran into a DE player that had a fantastic idea for a list. Not something gamebreakingly powerful, but something that sounded absurdly amusing to place on the table and play. This is it with some alterations from me.
Baron (Oh how I've hated and and all named characters since that 'Duke Incident')
4x Squads of Hellions w/
11x Hellions (Helliarch, Grenade Launcher, Agonizer): 221pts each
1x Squad of Hellions w/
11x Hellions (Helliarch, Grenade Launcher, Stunclaw): 206pts
3x Squads of Scourges w/
10x Scourges (4x Heat Lance): 268pts each
Sum total: 1999 points
That's 85 jump pack troops and the Baron. It's also upwards of 150 poisoned shots with an effective range of 30". I don't actually think this list would in a serious setting, but just the idea of putting it on the field once makes me feel tingly. Thoughts?
Ok, gotta hear about the "Duke Incident".
I am trying 2 squads of 10 Hellions right now, can't imagine more but perhaps after a couple games with 2 I can get a feel.
Played with 2 squads of Scourges and I have also played a squad of 10 scourges with 4 heat lances. Currently, I am playing 3 squads of 5 scourges - perhaps after a couple games I could get a feel but just looking at the amount of models I would have to add is staggering.
I think it needs a portal or two so some list overhaul would be in order. As-is I would be definitely playing "just to see what would happen". Not saying it wouldn't win but very reliant on who goes first in a game.
"On a hunch, I melted them down and inhaled the fumes and read the dark eldar codex again, AND FOUND A BUNCH OF NEW RULES HIDDEN BEHIND THE OTHER WORDS..." [Gardeth on modelling & interpreting the DE Codex]
i think if you change the heat lances for shredders then this list would be very fun to play against Tyranids with 110 poison shots from the hellions and 54 from the scourges and 16 s6 blast. i think you just gave me the army for when my mate finishes his Tyranid army
Game 1: Duke was in play. Targeted and shot down in 1st turn, with him dying in a fire. I said some unkind things about him.
Game 2: Duke starts in reserve. Turn 2 comes on via deepstrike, scatters, mishaps into a delay. Turn 3, deepstrikes, mishaps to death. I say more unkind things about him.
Game 3: Duke starts in reserve. Petulantly refuses to come into play all game. Game ends on turn 4 with no sign of the Duke, who was presumably out partying in true DE fashion.
Game 4: Duke starts in reserve. The party continues as he is again nowhere to be seen, and his unit must be having the best time ever because five turns later and they're still not here.
It became something of a running joke with my friends that anything that fails to come in from reserves is off 'partying with the Duke'. I haven't used a named HQ since then. That was six months ago.
I'm intrigued at the thought of a WWP, but I can't figure out how to get it into the list and mount it on a skyboard which kind of defeats the purpose of the list in the first place. I also realized that this army would be the biggest pain to transport anywhere. Anyone want to think of how much time would go into making cases for all of these bad boys?
Your list is cool and I would love to see it on the table. You'd do pretty well against most foot slogging lists, particularly 'Nids and Orks.. but you'd be in trouble (IMHO) against vehicle heavy lists.
It would be cooler with a WWP or two, but GW has made those a lot harder to take in this edition; you kinda have to build your list around it.

This list is pretty damn funny, just the thought of 55 Hellions and 30 Scourges =P In a relaxed local meta with medium levels of vehicles this list would be really freaking fun, I'd play it for sure shits and giggles, plus you're likely to get first turn too, brilliant =D

I think everyone is having the same silly notion about this list. Yes it would definitely be fun to play, but one of the few changes I think I would make would be the heat lances. I've never been that big of a fan of having my shooty units that close to a tank, especially if its got pin cushions inside. I think I would take blasters instead of those. I know at my local meta, many others would definitely give a strange look, seeing that much flying "on foot" parse. As it stands, I've already got half of that list available. I would love to give this list a run through against one of my buddies, he'd would be like WTH, lol. If anyone else tries this list out, I'd love to hear how it went.
