Welcome to Librarium Online!
i'll be attending a tournament this week with a few special rules. Elite and assault non-vehicle units are scoring and troops score double^^
All missions will have objectives AND kill points.
******* 1 HQ
1 Hive Tyrant
Whip + Bonesword
******* 1 Elite
2 Hive Guard 100
2 Hive Guard 100
******* 4 Troops
25 Termagant 125
25 Termagant 125
******* 3 Assault
20 Gargoyle 120
3 Spore Mine Cluster 30
******* 1 Heavy Support
==> 1497 Points
I tried to have few units that aren't too easy to kill. My tactic will be to sit on 1-2 objectives with my tervigon, gaunts and hive guard. The rest of the army has the ability to deepstike or outflank so they will try to get my opponent off their objective and/or help against TH/SS-Terminators and such.
It is a friendly tournament and not too competitive but i would still like to hear your comments.
P.S.: Sorry for my english, i'm german...
It's a fine list. I'd recommend TS and AG on the Gargoyles though, which can be paid for by the AG on the Trygon Prime (you don't need it) and the Spore Mines.
EDIT: I'm also worried that you don't have anything really to take out AV13+
Won the tournament
First match was against Eldar. Lost my Gargoyle and Genestealer units but killed everything but his 600 point Phantom. I had 8 objective points and he had none.
Second match was against Tau that won the first game 20-0, too. At the end of turn 6 i had lost my Gargoyles and the Alphatrygon and he had an immobilized Hammerhead with just one Pulse Cannon and a lone Coloss that was falling back. I had 12 objective points and he had none.
Third and last match was against a Chaos Deamon player in a match for the first place. While i played pretty agressively against Eldar and Tau and reserving more than half of my army, i put everything on the board in a huge line and playing very defensive for 4 terms. I was pretty lucky as he rolled a 2 for his wave roll. And by some unlucky scattering he lost a unit of 5 horrors and one unit of 9. In turn 6 the game ended with me loosing one brood of termagaunts and him loosing a Daemon Prince, his Soul Grinder and a five man unit of Bloodcrushers (plus the Horrors). I had 6 objective points and he had 2.
I was lucky with my opponents as there were only two vehicles with 13 front armour and almost no template weapons. The only thing i might change would be what you told me, but the mines had their use. The Eldar couldn't deploy on their home objective, Tau had to loose one round of marking to get into cover and Chaos Deamons weren't able to deepstrike too near on my left flank.
There was a discussion as to whether killing the mines would give him any kill points, but that wouldn't have changed the end result.
Congratulations on winning the tournament mate! Best of luck for the future!
By the way, Spore Mines don't count as kill points, which I think is cleared up somewhere in the FAQ.
Sadly it isn't really.
There were two other discussions.
Do Hive Guard have to test for nightfighting when firing their weapon?
Can a Walker fire an ordnance weapon AND any other weapon? (Didn't matter in this game, as the Soul Grinder's Phlegm attack isn't ordnance, but yet we discussed it.)
Oh well, it's still a decent win.Originally Posted by CridiDeal
Yes Hive Guard do have to take Night Fighting tests, as they don't have any special rules that say they don't. Think about it - If they have a special synapse which means they can use LOS of other nearby (Tyranid) organisms when they can't use theirs then if those organisms are looking into the night, they're still going to have trouble seeing.
No, walkers cannot be excluded from that rule as they still count as vehicles. There is no rule that states that they are an exception to the rule and therefore ordnance weapon rules still apply to them.
