Gotta love them!
I've played a tournament this weekend, giving me a chance to test the Great Knalocs that I've been dreaming about but could get a hand on armoury 2004 update(thanks wolfkin!)
The bolt thrower great gnarloc is only effective when using the explosive bolts, cant go wrong with 2 S6 templates! the lack of armour peircing is irrelevent, a unit can launch 6 of those a turn, and the best part of it is that they are assault!
The hyperactive nymune also makes them fast and deadly, although they cannot infiltrate.
In close combat, they do quite well, with S6 rending attacks, they defenitly put dents in the dreaded power armour and do even better Vs necrons (can't be back unless the orb is around!)
Over all for 85 pts a piece you have a good fire support, Close combat tough unit with with 15 T5 wounds! only rail guns can instant kill, so they can soak alot of fire power.
I'll be testing the regualr knalocs ( not the baggage one becuase he actually rhymes with garbage) and the riders too.

So that 2004 update...id really like to take a look at the gnarlocs as i have been thinking about adding one to my 1850 kroot list.
You find that it was worth the points even though its not a monstrous creature. And the guns on the back is worthwhile?
Let me know how the playtesting is going.
I've playtested them for about 6 games now, and the assault 2 blast markers at S6 do very well VS dreaded marines and necrons, better than the kroot gunOriginally Posted by samurai_socks
if they were monstrous they could be picked out, and that's bad, I like the rending attacks instead, especially Vs a wraith lord or C'tan.
Plus the hyperactive nymune turns them into secnd turn charges.
