My first attempt at an army using the new codex.

I chose Reinforced Exoskeleton instead of Extended Carapace on my Carnifex because I'll probably be facing Dark Eldar, mostly. They don't have any AP3 weapons (well, except for Sustained Fire from a Disintegrator, but I'm not worred about that) and the bulk of their firepower is from S3 and S8 weapons. The former can't wound this Carnifex and the latter will have a slightly more difficult time of it than normal. That leaves Splinter Cannons, but they'll likely be shooting at other things. Against Marines, I might want to go with Extended Carapace, but for now I'll try this.

The choice of Spore Mines as a Fast Attack choice is because I can't justify taking Biovores anymore. For less than the cost of two Biovores, I get the equivalent of three volleys from a full squad. It'll be less accurate, but I'll be able to avoid the chance of them running on the first casualty while outside of Synapse Range. Combined with the Lictors, the Mines will almost certainly arrive in a timely fashion.

Ostol, you did see that Biovores now have Brood Telepathy right? They act like normal troops now. I still agree with you that they aren't as useful as they used to be.

The only thing I'd suggest is dropping 2 Hormagaunts and giving the remaining 30 the Initiative bonus, only because DE are so fast. That will put you at 1502, but I've never met anyone who had problems with my lists being 1-3 points over.

Brood telepathy with Ld5 is worse than Instinctive behavior. He's right, biovores will run off the board pretty easy.

Ah, I only glanced over the rules for Biovores when I got my Codex. Once I saw how spore mines worked with them, I really haven't looked at them since.

Sorry for the bum advise on the Vores Ostsol. ^_^ My fingers must be faster than my eyes.

Hmm. . . I could do that. I usually intend for Catalyst to take care of that problem, but I guess that Initiative will help more during the opponent's turn.

Oh, and "Ostsol" has two 's's.
