Welcome to Librarium Online!
I have been posting on the Tau forum for a few months so I thought I would post my new 2000pt list.
Shas-O with Fusion / Plasma / Shield Generator / Multi Tracker. 133pts
Shas-El equiped as above. 108pts
2 x XV8(team leaders) equiped as HQ XV8's 93pts each, operating as lone suits.
Stealth Team 6 stealths. 180pts.
2 x Gun drone squads each with 8 drones. 96pts each.
Fire Warrior teams x3, 11 FW with 1 Shas-Ui 130pts per team (390pts)
Devil Fish with Disruption pod 85pts, transporting Fire Warrior squad with Shas-Ui 130pts.
14 Kroot. 98pts.
3 x Hammerheads all with Railgun, Burst cannons, Multi tracker, Black sun filters 165pts each (495pts)
1997 points total, think all the points values are correct.
The Shas-O stays close to a drone squad and is used to hunt armour and tough models (termies etc)
Shas-El and 2 XV8's are primarily armour and tough character, power armour type unit killers.
The Stealths are used on the flanks and will harrass valuable units / Heavy weapon squads / and light armour such as Dreads / War walkers etc.
Drone squad 2 will be used to hassle flanks or even deep strike behind the enemy lines just as a nuisance and give the enemy something else to worry about.
Kroot and DF FW team are there to plug any gaps in the Tau lines or to lend support to any assaulted FW / XV8 unit.
Hammerheads are primarily infantry killers, I tend to use the Subs to thin enemy numbers out, they are very very good at hurting hoard type armys.
Fire Warrior squads are the anchor of the list and have a 30" range with 36 shots a turn.
My main tactic is to use the six fast components of the army(XV8,Stealths,GD,HQ) to get straight in and threaten the opponents army, this effectively splits the army as the multiple threats really cannot be ignored, but I also have a large fire base waiting down field who can move forward if needed to mop up or apply pressure.
I hope I have a balanced list which can take out most types of army, I have tried for a good balance of different strength , AP weapons which can deal with most threats.
The HH are fast and hard to destroy and very versatile and have the opportunity to utilise the subs round because the XV8 suit are taking the pressure of them to kill tanks etc.
I also have the Kroot and DF FW team who will respond to fast assault units.
The big troop contingent helps in escalation scenarios and provides a very strong defensive capability. I also gave the HH BS filters as omega / escalation tends to throw up night fight a lot.
The Stealths are a big change for me, I used them before and did not like them, but I have learned a lot more about how to use them(mainly from forums), they are not really there to kill much but rather as a very nice distraction, nuisence unit.(something which I think they will excell at) and with the 4 XV8 suits and GD squads helping I dont think they will get caught in CC very often.
I am also relying on them to draw fire ( I will target valuable units with them to ensure they draw fire) as I like the fact that you cannot target another unit if you fail the spotting roll, and one less unit shoting is only good news.
What do you think any tips or tweaks appreciated
The 2 XV8's and HQ XV8's are set in stone I wont change anything about them, they have performed amazingly in my last list and it took a lot of thought to lose one to make room for the Stealths. I tried an ethereal mainly to combat Librarians with fear of the dark but found him an underused 50 points, so I brought back the Shas-El much more usefull. If my marine opponents insist on using Librarians in the future I may bring him back if needed.

I think a Shas'el would like to stay out of combat as much as possible, and is pretty good at doing that. I don't think you need the shield generator on him as much as you do twinlinking. With BS4, twinlinking is still very useful.
The shield generators on the elite crisis are also something I would say stay away from, usually. This is a 2000p list, so I guess you can use 30p on them, but I have a much better idea for you.
Instead of your suits, you could give them a twinlinked plasma rifle and shield generator, and save 19p each suit (38p).
Now, that would weaken his fire power you say? Actually, because the plasma rifle is twinlinked, it increases the suits fire power outside 12". And greatly increases kills per point, and you still have the shield generator!
But you're always within 12" you say? Then I argue that I do not see how a fusion blaster is better against anything W1 T5 2+ or worse. And that is almost all infantry (and it's not even going to help vs W2 T4 'nids anymore). You hit the same number of shots, both negate all armour, and they both wound on 2's, and even vs T5 you are still getting more kills per point because you are cutting the cost by more than 20%.
Decoy launchers are much more useful than a disruption pod on a devilfish.
I'd get 6 more kroot and have 2 units of 10.
Decoy launchers will be much more useful than blacksun filters.
I get your point but the SG stay on the two commanders because with the improved BS they are my primary armour killers, so they get close and the SG helps to keep the expensive models alive.Originally Posted by onlainariNow this is a very good argument but I may lose the SG and take the fusion with the twin linked Plasma. This would give me the best of both worlds and save more points. Think I could use the suits mobility to survive and if I get within fusion distance of armour Its nice to have the capability to kill it. Good advice and I think I will be making the changes.Originally Posted by onlainariYeah may rethink this, I just realised immob is rolled on a 5 now so it may be worthwhile.Originally Posted by onlainariWill be using the points saved to make this a unit of 20, I prefer the big unit it suits my style of play more. I am glad to get them back though I sacrificed some for the Stealths and did not really like doing it.Originally Posted by onlainariI like to have the ability to shoot at range with the rails in night fight, and I have never lost more than one HH in a battle. So I think I will stick with the BS filters.Originally Posted by onlainari
Thanks for the advice, the XV8's will change to the TL plasma and fusion with multi because I think the gain in accuracy will compensate for the loss ot the SG and I get my full Kroot unit back BONUS
