Welcome to Librarium Online!
Hi! Long time reader first time poster... *grin*
Here is a simple setup for a freindly 1250 point army that I would like to try. As I have not actually played yet, I'm open to tactical discussion as well! Anyhoo...
Lord w/SoL, VoD, Phylactery
7 Scarab Swarms
Total = 1243 pts
So that's really about it. Yes, I plan keep the Lord with the immortals for some fun "bamf" action.
As for the question: When a piece of wargear says that it must be used within X" inches of a unit (as with the Veil and teleporting) does the entire unit have to be WITHIN the radius or does a majority or is it only one model?
Also: I modified my above army for 1500 pts:
Lord w/SoL, VoD, Phylactery
10 Scarab Swarms
I wouldnt mind comments on that as well. I expect this is rather weak due to lack of heavy support and CC, but comments are always welcome!
Firstly, welcome to LO
Secondly, it looks like you have a very balanced list here - you have the right balance between "bamf" and having enough models to cope with phase out. A couple of things though: scarabs really need disruption fields if you're going to field them - they can charge enemy tanks in turn 2, and it is fun watching your opponent squirm as he wonders what to do with the scarabs - shoot them and kill about 100 points, or ignore them and lose a tank. Also, your lack of AP2 weapons could cause you some grief against 2+ saves, and even 3+ (your only AP3 weapon is short ranged). Take some heavy destroyers and you won't have to worry about heavily armoured foes. I usually favour 2 squads of 1 as your opponent can't kill them all at once. However, don't be tempted to shoot tanks with them as every single other necron troop type can kill tanks.
Also, at 1500 points I usually look to take the monolith, but thats just me. There are many varied opinions as to what is the right size army to take the 'lith.
As for your question, I interpret it as partially within, if for no other reason than the lord would never be able to target any other unit apart from his own.
Thanks for the welcome!
I fully agree with having disruption fields with my scarabs! The price displayed actually is the cost with disruption fields! I unwittingly forgot to put it on the list! blush!
Yeah, the 1500 pt army was a little weak in the way of heavy support. grin.
Anyway, thanks for your input! It reallys helps out a newbie like me!
nice lists but i disprove of a Phylactery ever for that debate see the old thread on the subject

Bob: If you had a dollar for every 60 cents...
you'd be Canada.
Bill: actually i think its more like 70 cents.

The points for the warriors in the 1500 list seems to be wrong. I belive they cost 18 points each whereas you have them at 19.8 points a model. Interesting.
... only triumph could turn pooing his pants into a good thing..
