Welcome to Librarium Online!
hi all, next week i will be facing tau in a 750 pt battle. The list my opponent is gonna use will be extremely similar if not this:
Shas'o -hard wired multi tracker and dronw controller, 2 shield drones, plasma rifle, missle pod, shield gen.
Crisis squad- only 1 man strong, armed with burst cannon, flamer 2 gun drones (some other stuff I forget)
Stealth suits- 6 strong
firewarrior unit- 12 strong
hammerhead with smart missle and railgun
Well, Ive thought about it and came up with two lists:
Necron Lord- SoL and VoD
Necron lord- SoL and VoD
Basically list one would advance while shooting and teleport a warrior unit real close to rapid fire
List 2 would advance swiftly with wraiths and scarabs while teleporting the warriors close...
What do you think? any comments more than welcome
haha i'm safe behind my terrain piece here... those footsloggin necrons will never reach me... WHAT THE HELL A GIANT PYRAMID THINGY JUST MATERIALIZED OUT OF THIN AIR!
i think you should probably have a few more wraiths and give the scarabs desturction shields(dun have codex rite now so dun know how to spell) to take out the hammerhead, have the wraiths take out shas'o,stealth suits and Crisis squad, tele the warriors onto rapid fire range, if u want, you can also give the lord a warscyth and assault with the wraiths. I think about 5 scarabs should be able to take out the tank
1. the scarabs would do nothing against the tank, they would need 3 6's in a row to kill it since it is a skimmer. with the 6 d-field scrabs you could aford, you would do an average of 2/3 of a glancing hit. use the scarabs to kill firewarriors. just gauss flay the tanks from close range 20 gauss shots from rapid fire is 2.2 glancing hits.
2. i would go wih the second list, but either one would work.
Procrastination- hard work often pays off over time, but laziness always pays off now.
Indifference- it takes 43 muscles to frown, and 17 to smile, but none to just sit there with a dumb look on your face.
-Votewar 40K III= 1st place
-Votewar 40k mini= 2nd place
-Votewar fantasy 2= 2nd place
His crisis suits are awful. His commander is an abomination. I wouldn't be surprised to see 1 or 2 markerlights in that list either. You will kick his arse if you take this list:
5 Immortals 140
10 Warriors 180
10 Warriors 180
3 Destroyers 150
Number of Necrons: 29, a magic 4X + 1 number.
You really, really need the destroyers to catch up to his suits. Wraiths are good too, but it's easier for those suits to avoid combat than being shot. This may sound weird, but that's just coming from my experience as a long time tau player.
The destoyers must go for the stealths first. Turbo boost to somewhere the hammerhead must move out into the open to shoot at them. This way you can then fire your immortals at the hammerhead. The destroyers should be able to get the stealths turn 2, at worst turn 3. Don't assault them, they'll hurt.
Just advance the warriors up the board, get him to shoot at them. The lord won't be very effective either. Warriors are the best unit to kill the hammerhead, but I doubt you'll get the opportunity. The warriors will just prevent phase-out.
His commander will just be a pain to kill. I wouldn't bother. Play a rulebook mission, and focus on the objective. His commander cannot hold objectives. A massacre is expected.
