What do you think of my 1500 point tyranid army list? My maths might be a bit rusty so please tell me if you spot something... But I came up with a great name for a carnifex... Carnotaur. I think it sounds a bit like Carnage Bull. Here's the list:
5 retinue with carapace
adrenal glands ws
Toxin Spore Mines x2
TOTAL: 1503 points.
Usually, when people say they are bad at math, the army given tends to contain a lot more points than it should. At first it looked like you were going the same way.
That HT actually costs 150 points (see why there are TWO points costs listed for the Strangler).
The Warrior groups cost 88 points each, not sure what went wrong there...
The HT seems to be a walking Fire Support Tyrant, I think it would be better off with TL-Devourers instead of the Talons. Turning it into a complete Infantry Mauler.
It's worth it giving the Broodlord himself a Carapace as well.
Warriors: Naked Warriors like that are an interesting idea. Not sure how it will work out though, I'd love to read a Batrep with these guys...
The Elite 'Fex, I have my doubts about it. Carnifi are quite slow and as such, in some scenarios it's not going to see much action. Unless they have to, most armies will not come to the 'Nids, you need to go and assault them. The 'Fex is relatively slow and will see Combat quite late.
Raveners: the Rending Claws they can get are the best reason to get Raveners IMHO. Dual Scything Raveners look cool, but are not quite as effective as Raveners with Claws and Talons.
Heavy Support: You seem to have forgotten them :-) The total value of the posted troops is 1191 points, not 1503...
With kind regards,
You can make the gants cheaper and get more by going with spinefists... Spinegants are the cheapest you can buy.
Damn... was my math really that bad?
I think that if I drop the termagaunts down to spinegaunts I might have enough leftover points to cover my mistakes...
The warriors are as cheap as I could possibly make them, now that they are invulnerable to instant death I see that there is no point making them fighty, just putting 'em in for
synaptic support. I need to cut some points, but I cannot decide how to do it. Should I drop a ravener? I love the look of the new models! Do you have any suggestions?
You don't need to cut any points. The list you posted was 1191, not 1503. You have points to spend.
What I'll do is...
Switch the tyrants talons for twin linked devourers,
Move my carnifex to heavy support, give it a strangler and enhanced senses,
Give my raveners rending claws,
upgrade my frag mines to toxin,
drop the horror from my zoanthropes,
Give my broodlord carapace,
and change my gaunts to spinegaunts, get more of them.
What should I do wit the rest of my points?
Add a guard for your tyrant.
As of Tyranid 5th Ed. codex I have the Gaunts I wanted. I did, however, loose the sniperfexs I relied upon and they were more important then the gaunts.
You probably will need some fast synapse, not a good idea to depend on the broodlord to provide synapse for your faster hormaguants and raveners, maybe add some wings to your warriors or add some additional fast attack warriors. Also, its always nice to have toxin sacs for your broodlord.

I would spend the points on more hormagaunts and termagants. The more the merrier!
The elite fex has to be LESS THAN 115 pointsOriginally Posted by Tyranidude
