    [2000] Iyanden, Fast, Aspects

    Hi Guys and Gals,

I have recently made a change (the addition of Scorpions, at the cost of a Falcon) to my 2,000 point Iyanden list and I would like to run it by you guys.

    HQ
    Avatar Of Khaine
Farseer, Witchblade, Jetbike, Mind War, Fortune

    Elites
    Rangers (x6)
    Warp Spiders (x8 )
Striking Scorpions (x8 ) Exarch, Scorpion's Claw, Stealth, Crushing Blow

    Fast Attack
    Vyper, Starcannon, Crystal Targeting Matrix
    Vyper, Starcannon, Crystal Targeting Matrix
    Vyper, Starcannon, Crystal Targeting Matrix

    Troops
    Wraithlord, Brightlance, 2 Flamers
    Wraithlord, Brightlance, 2 Flamers
Wraithguard (x10) Spiritseer, Witchblade, Shuriken Pistol, Conceal
Wraithguard (x5) Spiritseer, Witchblade, Shuriken Pistol, Enhance
Wave Serpent, TL Starcannon, Shuriken Cannon, Spirit Stone

    Total 2,001 points

    Notes:
    • Some have suggested I drop the CTMs on the Vypers and recoup the points elsewhere. I can be convinced. Others still have suggested Holo-fields for the Vypers.
    • The same goes for the Shuriken Cannon on the Wave Serpent. It is a defensive weapon, so it can always be fired, and it gives my assault Wraithguard covering fire.
    • I sacrificed a Fire Dragon troupe in a Falcon for the Warp Spiders and the Scorpions. I felt the Fusion Guns were redundant in an army with so many Wraithcannon.

i would lose the shuriken cannon, its a little overpriced and the wave serpent probably wont be around for long (but maybe the avatar and the lords will divert fire). Pretty good list, if a little strange to see aspects in an Iyanden list. Why are the rangers there??? i would lose them and beef up the aspects to full. Also lose crushing blow on the scorpion exarch as with the claw its practically redundant. I dont really know about the CTMs but dont put holofields on them they are too weak and a holofield isnt going to help much with such a low armour value (quantity of shots).

Thanks for the input, Turner. I know its weird to have more than one kind of Aspect Warrior in an Iyanden list, but I figured, why not? I have the points and the models, and I am still spending way more on Troops choices.

Believe it or not, my Serpents usually last the entire game. My opponents always seem to find more worthy things to be shooting at.

The Rangers are there for anti- big thing fire. Daemon Princes, C'Tan, TMCs, etc. They are miracle workers in that regard. They are similar to the Wraithcannons which are so common in this list, but have much better range.

Here is what I have been considering:
If I drop the CTMs from the Vypers, and the ShuriCannon from the Serpent, I have all sorts of points to be able to work with. I could max out my Aspect troupes and Ranger troupe. I could alternately buy another Wraithguard squad, or perhaps a Falcon.

    Too many possibilities!

I would have dropped the CTMs and the Rangers in order to get a Falcon, you don't need more anti-big stuff weapons that you already have. With a Falcon you get another fast unit that can keep up with your Wave Serpent. I would also drop Enhance on the wraithguard in the serpent and replace it with Destructor for some anti-horde/medium armour goodness.

I would also let the Farseer foot slog with the big Wraithguard squad, i played against a Iyanden player using that combination on an RTT and i just couldn't take it out! Fortuned 3+ or 5+ is just mean, he will definately be of more use there. Also, let the Avatar join that squad as well so he can benefit from Fortune and add an edge in CC. It will be deadly...

So if I drop the Jetbike, the CTMs, the ShuriCannon, and the Rangers,
I should have enough for a Falcon, though probably not another Serpent Squad.
...I could buy a Serpent for the Scorpions, however, and ditch "Stealth".

What do you think? A Falcon, or another Serpent? Either way, the list ends up being faster.

A falcon, for more firepower and durability.

But if you do what i suggested with the Farseer as well, how many points would you have left over then?

If I play my cards right, I think I may have enough for a Fire Dragon troupe for the Falcon, though I would much prefer a Serpent for the Scorpions.

When I get home from work I will break out the codex and begin pointing the revised list up. I will post the revised list.

    Thanks for the assistance.

Yes, a wave serpent would be much better than some Fire Dragons.

OK, I added some things, dropped some things, and managed to get a Serpent and a Falcon in there.

It's only two Vypers now, but they are now part of a five-vehicle team, supported by some hard hitters in the form of Wraithguard, Wraithlords and the Avatar. I would like to manage to squeeze some Haywire Grenades into the Scorpions' troupe, but I can't afford the points.

Fire Dragons seem kind of redundant in this list...despite being a cool Aspect.

    Here goes:

    HQ:
    Avatar of Khaine
Farseer, Witchblade, Shuriken Pistol, Ghosthelm, Mind War, Fortune

    Elites:
    Warp Spiders (x8)
Striking Scorpions (x9) Exarch, Scorpion's Claw
Wave Serpent, TL Starcannon, Spirit Stone

    Fast Attack:
    Vyper Jetbike, Starcannon
    Vyper Jetbike, Starcannon

    Troops:
    Wraithlord, 2 Flamers, Brightlance
    Wraithlord, 2 Flamers, Brightlance
Wraithguard (x10) Spiritseer, Witchblade, Shuriken Pistol, Conceal
Wraithguard (x5) Spiritseer, Witchblade, Shuriken Pistol, Destructor
Wave Serpent, TL Starcannon, Spirit Stone

    Heavy Support:
Falcon Grav-Tank, Starcannon, Holofield, Spirit Stone

    Total: 1,998 points. 37 models. 5 vehicles.

Now that list turned out pretty good, you have a very solid (if slow) core that will rip everything that tries to charge it apart, and you also have fast units to claim objectives or lead a quick assault. You can take out most armies with that list, it should do fine. If anything, i would change Ghosthelm for Runes of Witnessing on the Farseer to almost ensure that his power succeds, probability says you will fail it on 1 turn in a 6-turn game.
