Welcome to Librarium Online!
I have been debating between a mechanized IG army and a mechanized Tau army. Well, here's what I've come up with for Tau at 500 points (since me and my friends are just getting started):
- Ethereal
Troop 1: Fire Warrior Squad
- Shas'ui
- - - Pulse Rifle
- 8 Shas'la
- - - Pulse Rifles
Troop 2: Fire Warrior Squad
- 5 Shas'la
- - - Pulse Rifles
- 5 Shas'la
- - - Pulse Carbines
- Devilfish
- - - 2 Gun Drones
- - - Multi-tracker
Heavy Support: Hammerhead
- Hammerhead
- - - Railgun
- - - Two Burst Cannons
- - - Targetting Array
- - - Target Lock
- - - Disruption Pod
Total Points: 500
What do you all think? My friends are an ork army and an all-out infantry Imperial Guard army (which, according to my friend, will make extensive use of mortars). I plan on using the Devilfish-mounted Fire Warriors as a mobile assault platform, the Hammerhead as a long-range ordinance weapon, and the foot-slogging Fire Warriors as a mid-range assault squad, with the Ethereal attatched. Sound good?

First of all I have two word to tell you. NOT LEGAL
You have to field a commander the Etheral is 0-1 which means that you alloid to field him but don't have to.
move the multi-tracker to the Hammerhead instead it have much better use of it as the devilfish.
If you wants to I can post my 500 pts list for inspiration
I'm not sure if you're correct here.Originally Posted by Arakiaz

I do agree, though, about the Multitracker - throw that on the Hammerhead, so you can move and still shoot the Railgun. I would also recommend getting rid of the Pulse Carbines in one of your FW squads - it mixes weapons, and I guarantee that you'll be wanting the Pulse Rifles in the future; more shots, longer range, good stuff.
It doesn't but then again it doesn't say 0-1 as it does on the Ethereal. But anyway Ethereal isn't a great stand alone HQ choice. But if he want to use is he better keeps it out of fire, which he can't do against those mortars.
Pulse rifles doesn't have more shots than carbine, unless you are inside 12", and they have pinning. But I still find rifles way better because of their longer range
Ahrg!!!!!! I hate you:tongue: .... why do you always have to be right... I haven't thought of that, and why did I start arguing with you in the first place, since you are always right.
But I will still say that should get a commander instead of the ethereal, since he can't protect it and ethereal shall not die
I have yet to find a thing you have said to me which was wrong.
Yes it save him points but still when and I say when he dies his army runs away.
But back to the list:
I would say move the MT to the Hammerhead instead
I took the ethereal for two reasons: because he was cheaper than the other HQ choices, and because I thought he'd be a good choice for when my army grows.
Ends up my IG friend doesn't have any mortars yet, and he has his 500-point army now (found a good deal on ebay), so I don't need to worry about them for now. So, would leaving the ethereal as an IC, but surrounding him with the foot-slogging fire warriors be a feasible way to defend him?
Taking your suggestions, I also came up with this alternate army. Would that be better? I'm a little concerned with the lack of fire warriors, so hopefully the commander would make up for it.
Thanks for your input.
