Welcome to Librarium Online!
I am going to be playing against a BA space marine brother and a nids brother. I therefore thought a little CC would be good. Also, I have heard that the monolith is very usefull against the nids. I will mainly be playing against these two armies, but sometimes go to the shop and play other people. Any advice is much appreciated. Here goes:
HQ: 1 Necron Lord w/ Res. Orb, VoD, and warscythe. 210p
Troops: 50 Necron Warriors 900p
Fast Attack: 6 Destroyers: 300p
Heavy Support: 3 H. Destroyers: 195p
3 Tomb Spyders: 165p
1 Monolith: 235p
TOTAL: 2005p (brothers dont care and so dont many people at the store that i know)
Phase Out at 15 i think. Advice on deployment and strategy plz as I am new to 40k. Thank You!
Thats not a bad list but IMO there could be a few changes, This is my 1500 points list which is quite balanced (the extra 500 to make 2000 could be anything)
Lord w/ warscythe, res. orb, phase shifter, phylactery 195
3x 10 strong warrior squads
5 scarab swarms
2 tomb spyders
I feel this will make a good list to start off with as it is quite resilient against marine as they get cheap power weapons and nids who get lots of multiple shot weaponry.
I a firefight this list will win a good 60% of the time and the lord is there to heal units and go character hunting (you knock him down he gets back up to continue the fight).
Also the phase out is at 10 models so you can continue to fight even after heavy losses.
In a 200 point list you NEED at least 2 H. destroyers (+ 10 immortals would be nice), with these you should be able to disintegrate any assaulting units and show the marines the true meaning of firepower.
This is just my opinion so I hope it helps.
i personally never take the res orb because it's only a 6 in range so its not very good at covering my warriors. also trade in tomb spiders for a sqaud of immortals they will help out alot more, and add in a couple of scarabs just to tie up your opponents troops. but remember you cant shoot into cc. i usually put my lith at the head of the army because it can take alot of damage and manage to be unhurt. and it's only 24in range. The destroyers would go behind your warriors because they are easily killed and since its about 36in range (not sure) putting them back a couple of inches wont hurt much. have your warriors in the center of your army and march towards the enemy. for the nids, just keep shooting them with your warriors and destroyers and if he has a hive queen or some other major character then use the monolith's particle whip and the heavy d's heavy gauss cannon to take them out. As for space marines, you would do the same thing except have the monolith use it's flux arches to kill troops instead of hq but keep the heavy d's trained on the hq.
Agreed, the res orb range ain't great, but it can make the difference to your squad getting cut in half by power weapons and you surviving.
I stand by my earlier list as it has enough models to stop phase out being a threat and has enough resilience due to spyders and res orb.
How about wraiths? they are fast and strike first against 80% of models and they have an invlnerable save, what more could you want?
I think the orb effects any unit which is wholly or partially within 6". That's a 12" across circle centered on you lord. It should be possible to get at least two units in that zone (therefore up to 40 warriors). It's a handy doohickey but be careful giving it to an assault lord as he can still get knocked down pretty easily. I find they also tend to wander off away from the warriors.
No more NG spearmen, thanks! Now I need some pump-wagons!
i think that the argument with wraiths is that you can only have 3 in a unit, maybe the cost not sure, and they would move to fast to get backed up by your worriors, scarabs would be good distractions though...
take away 10 warriors and use all the exstra pts to get scarabs and destroyers go in squads of 2-5 so ethir get rid of 1 for more scarabs/add destribution fields or make 2 squades of 3
