Ive only just started collecting tyranids again mainly coause they are even better than they were before stats wise. There new mosels are awsome. Anyway i stat small with list so heres my 500pt list.
1 Hive tyrant: 119 pts
2 Rending claws
2 Scything talons
Adrenal glands WS
3 warriors: 105 pts
All have rending claws
Adrenal glands INI and WS
15 hormaguants 180 pts
Adrenal glands WS and INI
16 gaunts 96 pts
I hope this is a kind of balanced list for this number of points though i could take out the hive tyrant but i didnt know if 3 warriors were enough to get rid of any big creaures and tanks.
Anyway just tell me what you think and what I need to improve.
Ok, good start.
I personally don't like a tyrant dedicated for close combat. Keep the scything talons and give him a Venom Cannon for some much needed shooting. A venom cannon will take out any transports easily make thire close combat troops walk farther.
Not bad, maybe drop the rippers for leaping to help them stay out of rapid fire range. In small games, many armies try to utilze rapid fire even more so in smaller games. Also, most armies won't have more than 3 units, 2 of your units have leaping, this will almost make sure you will hit them first.
Keep them cheap. Maybe just give them adrenal glands for IN so they can hit better, when they charge, and make better use for all thos attack.
Drop the rending on the tyrant, they're MC anyway s ignore armour save in cc. Give it a VC as said above to make it effective from turn 1 as well as providing ant-armour support.
Drop one set of rending claws on the warriors and give them ST. This will mean they get 4 attacks each on the charge, instead of 3. Also, as said above, drop rippers and give them leaping. A lethal combination.
I prefer my hormie cheap, so i don't give them any upgrades. If i were to, i'd take AG- I, as it will mean they strike first against SM's.
Termagauants, good. I personally prefer spineguants, as they're cheap fodder, but stick with termagaunts as they can deal out more damage.
Overall a nice lists, just need to fix up some upgrades. Good work. Happy hunting.
1 Hive tyrant: 133 pts
1 venom cannon
1 set of Scything talons
Adrenal glands WS
3 warriors: 111 pts
Adrenal glands INI And WS
15 hormaguants 165 pts
Adrenal glands INI
15 gaunts 90 pts
Total points= 499
Looks much better. If the list doesn't work the first time, play it a few more times against different oppoentns to get used to it. If then it is still loosing (no reason why it might) think about changing it. Are you playing against SM alot? If so, for the future i'd recommend stealers, as their rending is nasty against power armoured foes. AGain, good list. Happy hunting.
