Ok, I am totally new to Alaitoc(Have no idea wut I am doing) so I will need as much help/comments/suggestions as possible, Ilyanden are starting to bore me. The strategy is simple, stand back and snipe. I have all models but need to paint every single one of em
HQ looks fairly good, sit back and impower allies
I have no idea wut pathfinders are for, so ... I dont even know if I need em
40 rangers will insure death of anyone who approaches
I didnt want to waste money on vypers, so I will use my 2 Ilyanden wrathlords instead, falcon is a must, thats obvious
2x Farseer (2x fortune, 2x witchblade, 2x guide, 2x S.Pistol) 216
4x Warlocks (4x Witchblades, 4x S.pistols, 2x Enchance) 138
2x Wraithlords(2x Starcannons or 2x Bright lances depending on the enemy)
Falcon(Star Cannon, Holofield, Spirit Stones)
Some points left over, any upgrade suggestions are greatly apreciated
With the extra points, get 3 vypers with both S. cannonsOriginally Posted by WraithGuardian
You mean completely drop the warlocks and leave just the 2x farseers???
Vypers are expensive, I was sorta trying to save money thats why I use wraithlords, I was hoping to use something from my current arsenal, I just dont know whats common in Alaitoc
Well, if you wanted to go fluffy, then the best heavy support would probally be War Walkers.
Nice ideas, but it needs some revision. You'll get sick of painting so many rangers, really, and wait for the new models as well:shifty:.
HQ: Sorry, but this seems badly flawed. Warlocks are useless, and the farweers are as well at the moment. THINK! What use is guide when hitting on a 2+? What use are witchblades if you are not going to charge, which would be very stupid? Also, you do NOT need two as one should be enugh - a bad wsate of points. Take one or two with fortune or mind war, no WB.
Elites: Patfinders are much better than rangers, as they ignore armour on 4+ - take three uenits but havemore in them. You'll need that vs. SM. See falcon entry as well.
Troops: You have 8 troop choices - not allowed. Otherwise good. You could cut down on the points as well, for more versatility.
Fast Attack: Although this seems a bad idea, this is really one of the only places for non-ranger or support units. You need units to tie up enemy troops while you shoot them to bits. I'd suggest bikes, with the withdraw ability to make them safer, and/or swoopiong hawks, which can engage at mid-range and deep strikee, maing them flexible. Give the exarxch decent CC weapons as well.
You also need vipers for mobile tank-killing. Take one with a bright lance, two in seperate squads if you have the points.
Havy Support: Also, you need more anti-armour power because rangers can't kill tanks - I'd suggest a falcon, with a crystal targeting matrix because it has nothing to hide behind. This could also take units out from combat areas, as you have no cc potential at all. It might be best to sacrifice some elites in order to get a counter-charge unit.
The wraithlords also need some covering units, to an extent. Any army with a decent number of high-strength heavy weapons would take them early on. THey don't fit into the style of the army - big shooty scouty robots? THe points might be better elsewhere. War walkers are better fluffwise, and provide more shooty power per points.
Tactics - Just shoot. Use the farseer/s to bolster your rangers with fortune, and take out enemy characters. Harry the enemy to halt an all out-charge, and use the mobility of vipers/falcons to remove enemy armour. If units close, counterattack and retreat. yOUr army isn't hard. Put rangers in trees, obviously.
Hope that helps, and good luck
Hell bent on twisting the rules of Inquisitor to my dark desires.Mod Edit -
Ignore this person. What a waste of perfectly good oxygen. There are kids in Antartica or China or Korea or some other country that would kill for the oxygen you are wasting with each passing minute.
if you dont care about fluff then an avatar may be the best hq choice for this army as you dont really need the farseer powers= nothing really worthwhile to fortune and only the falcon to guide. if you really want farseers then just give one power and keep him/them cheap (not witchblades or warlocks). er marquis alaitoc an have 8troop choices its a special rule for the army. you are right though about the anti-tank, this army needs some. although rangers can have pot shots at light vechicles (with fair success as well) you need some dedicated antitank. this is especially true for aliatoc whivh get nerfed by tanks anyway. im not sure what form this should take however...
Everyone makes mistakes. mine was to leave her head in the fridge.
Farseers and warlocks could be useful in an Alaitoc force as a way to tie up the enemy's fast assault forces. A farseer with fortune and some warlocks might not be able to kill off a tweaked Marine assault squad, but they can be a heck of a thing to get rid of. With their ability to fleet they also have the mobility to get in the way. That would leave your rangers and pathfinders free to shoot more.
Vypers are good for a reason here: mobility. Not only in moving firepower around where you want to bring it to bear, but also capturing or contesting table quarters and objectives.
You know the weird thing about advising people on their army lists? I dislike the idea of making everyone vanilla, in that doing so removes some of the unique nature of a player's list.
Tyranids: Hive Fleet Kohr-Ah
You might want to take an Avatar as HQ, he makes a nice counter-charge unit to protect your Rangers and he gives your enemy something to worry about. Unless you go up against a shooty army of course.
Warhammer Fantasy: Warriors of Chaos, High Elves
Warhammer 40k: Eldar, Space Marines, Orks
Ok, how is this, I put all your suggestions into one, is this about right???
9 Striking Scorpions with exarch(claw, stealth)
4x Vypers(bright lances)
Falcon(Star Cannon/bright lance, Pulse laser, Holofield, Spirit Stones)
You have 4 elite choices, which to my knowledge of Alaitoc is illegal but unless there's some special rule you need to cut off one of your Elites.
The only thing is having one shot weapons on vypers and falcons is generally a bad idea, but sense this is Alaitoc and your lacking anti tank weaponry then it should be fine.
