I'm a new Warhammer 40K player and fell in love with Eldar after seeing all the amazing models and reading about their history and tactics. I've been collecting some so that I may have a nice army after a while.
Right now it's just vanilla and a bit sparse, but here it goes:
1000pt Eldar Army
Farseer (76 pts) <--rides with Scorps in Falcon
5 Striking Scorpions (105 pts)
- Haywire Grenades
Defender Squad (196pts)
12 Guardian Defenders
Heavy Weapon Platform(Star Cannon)
Defender Squad (130pts)
10 Guardian Defenders
Heavy Weapon Platform(Star Cannon)
Falcon Grav Tank (190pts)
Total pts: 995 pts
Total Models: 40 models
I plan to stay vanilla, but am looking at Ulthwe as a possible course of action.
As for future models to buy, I hope to get:
-a wave serpent
-two more Vypers ( to replace jetbikes. I can feild two more for those silly things and have points to spare)
-warwalker squad ( or another wraithlord )
-another wave serpent
Also a seer council. Even if I don't play Ulthwe I can us the warlocks.
Also besides a good critique of the army, could someone tell if the big gun on the falcon is a pulse laser or bright lance? Also, what models do I need for Black Guardians? My craftworld codex is on it's way in the mail, but hoping someone here could help me til then.
A Big Thanks to Everyone, I've learned a lot from scouring the forums and articles here.

the warlock with the heavy weapons platform doesn't need a witchblade. he can make do with a ccw unless you intend to march them up with field (which is why, i suspect, you've given them conceal).
it's been said time and time again, 1 shot weapons are cool cool for bs3. if you can, swap the brightlance on the vyper with the starcannon on the wraithlord.
the big long gun on the falcon is a pulse laser.
i'd try and increase that scorpion squad. they work best in numbers due to their lack of power weapons and an exarch with a claw does wonders against marines. it also give you the option of infiltrating.
warp spiders are a very versitile and powerful unit. use representation to try some out, see if you like them.
welcome to eldar! it's a steep learning curve for new players but have fun with it!
You're right about the warlock
Currently the idea is:
-----Def Squad----------------Def Squad-----
Then I would have my JB's and Vyper to one side,
Then my Scorps with the farseer to the other.
When I get my Seer Council and wave serpent, I'll take 10 Scorps /wExarch in it, and the Seer Council in the Falcon.
I really don't plan on depending on the Vypers too much. Giving them the BL just makes them tempting to the enemy while the Falcon deploys.
For later, three with BL's will either mutilate some armor or let me get my serpent in place and scorps deployed.
After reading about Ulthwe and the Black Guardians, it looks like I will definitely go that way. I like all the aspect warriors, but they can get expensive points wise, plus they all concentrate in areas. I won't need long range since I should have that wihtout fire-dragons or reapers. The Scorps seem to have better staying power than Banshees which is why I chose them.
The warp spiders do sound neat though and will definitely try them in a representation. Most of the guys here seem really nice and I don't think they would mind. I was wondering though.. you can't break up the seer council can you?
..actually it's the brightlance. the gun placed to the left of the gunner is the pulse laser.Originally Posted by theriddles
no. it's the pulse laser. a falcon kit comes with a pulse laser and scatter laser as standard. the big long one is a pulse laser and the short stubby one is the scatter laser.
OK, just to make sure..
In a standard Falcon kit, the pulse laser is the BIG gun, and the scatter laser is the little gun on the turret?
So this is a new style of scatter laser? I've seen so many "gatling-gun" style scatter lasers that I wasn't sure in this.
the eldar don't have a gatling gun looking gun. in the back of the codex you can see the scatter laser is the triangular stubby one.
