Welcome to Librarium Online!
This is only the plan. I have not finalised the ideas. It is realtively small miniature number wise for a nid army and I havent yet seen how that will affect it. Please feel free to comment,
Hive Tyrant with wings, warp blast, lash-whip and bonesword, scything talons
Broodlord with extended carapace and toxin sacs
Retinue of 8x Genestealers feeder tendrils, extended carapace, toxin sacs
15x Hormagaunt with toxin sacs, adrenal glands, extended carapace,
15x Termagaunt with fleshborers
8x Genestealers with extended carapace, feeder tendrils, toxin sacs
6x Warrior with enhanced senses, extended carapce, toxin sacs. 5 deathspitters, 1 Venom Cannon, 2 lash whips, 4 Scything talons.
Carnifex with bonded exoskeleton, barbed starngler, venom cannon and enhanced senses.
Carnifex with bonded exoskeleton, barbed strangler, crushing claws and adrenal glands
6pts any ideas haha ??
I'd drop the Lash Whip and Bone Sword for something more effective, like Rending Claws or a second set of Scything Talons (they are vastly better). Warp Blast is not to be relied upon either (it's too "hit or miss" for my tastes), you'd probably be better off with Warp Field.Originally Posted by DeathofThoughtThe Brood Lord looks fine... but those genestealers are way too expensive. Keep 'em cheap, they're all going to die (brood lords draw a LOT of fire). If you want Feeder Tendrils, give it to the Brood Lord (his retinue will get it too, so long as he's in combat). Drop toxin sacs from the genestealers, with rending it's completely unnecessary, but keep Extended Carapace (because it's really good).Originally Posted by DeathofThoughtWhich adrenal glands, WS, I, or both? These little buggers are a lot more expensive than any I'd personally field, but if they've worked for you in the past, I say go for it.Originally Posted by DeathofThoughtYou'll probably want spinefists instead, for the cheaper wounds, although Termagants can be effective in ranged combat for a turn.Originally Posted by DeathofThoughtAgain, these guys are way too expensive, the Toxin Sacs are unnecessary (thanks to Rending) and Feeder Tendrils really doesn't help genestealers all that much (they tend to hit on a 3+ vs most troops anyway). Keep Extended Carapace for the anti-marine capability.Originally Posted by DeathofThoughtBreak this into two broods, and try to find the points for a second venom cannon. If you can find the points, trade the lash whips and scything talons for rending claws. Lash Whips really aren't that good, one set is usually enough if you -really- want to use them.Originally Posted by DeathofThoughtYour first carnifex is really good... trade bonded exo for Reinforced Chitin and he's gold.Originally Posted by DeathofThought
For the second carnifex, make him a full Gunfex like the first. Mixing CC and ranged biomorphs tends to be a bad idea (and if you HAVE to do it, use scything talons... the cost of crushing claws is far too high for something that has a fairly high chance of netting less attacks than normal at an inopportune time).
i dunno poptarts, i think the feeders can be viable in this case. hes packing a lot of hormies
if he uses the adrenal glands for I, then has his genes going in with his hormies, thats a lot of 3+ attacks
um thats only the one without the broodlord though, dont think theyll be as effetive in the retinue since the broodlord is most effective when he infiltrates (normally), and most people find that really really intimidating, meaning theyll be shot at a lot (like poptarts said), most will probably die before your hormies get close enough to benefit from the tendrils of that brood
but i agree on the dropping the toxin sacs, your main killer will be when you rend
105 pts = 15 termagaunts
105 = 25 spinegaunts
10 more wounds at the same price
now spare point after the suggestions by poptarts and my newbie intuition...
dropping feeder tendrils on retinue brood
dropping all gene toxin sacs
swapping lash and bone for scything on tyrant
taking warp field instead of warp blast
exchanging bonded for chitin on both fexes
exchanging claws for scything talons
gives you.... 112pts breathing room
or 128 if you drop all the feeders
Thanks all I will keep that in mind. As for this warp shield rubbish i would rather not. I would prefer to blow up a tank on a 4+ etc than have a 2+ save and a 6 but then again ity is personal preference.
thats blow up a tank on a 10 or less on 2D6 then hit with a 4+ (can't use ES with the good blast) and then 5+ str penetrate(AV14) and then 4+ vehicle destroyed which gives you a 8% chance to kill a tank with a shot..... jsut thought i'd run the maths for you. remember in close combat vs tanks you are str 6 + 2d6 which works out at 14% chance a hit to destroy av 14 with 6 attacks and assuming a stationary vehicle 84% chance in close combat....
warpfield means you get a save against krak missiles.... which gives you a save against the most common heavy weapon taken in tournaments (due to versatility) it also doubles your survival against small arms fire... and gives you a save (all be it crap) against las cannons... never underestimate how good a 6+ save looks when u take 4 lascannon wounds on your first turn.....

I would give the carnifex extended carapace so he does not get picked appart by missile launchers or anything else with AP 3 instead of giving him the bonded exoskeleton
