Welcome to Librarium Online!
I'm mainly going to fight eldar, guar and SM but I don't know what type of army i should build i have been speaking with the guy playing SM and he recommends making it mech tau so i wrote a list for that.
Shas'el CIN, MP, Shield genrator, hardwired multitracker - 102
12 Firewarriors in devilfish all with pulse rifles - 200
12 Firewarriors in devilfish all with pulserifles - 200
the guard army has 2 basilisks so i think i need the shiled generator for the shas'el might switch the missile pod for a fusion but thenm the range gets shorter and i think the MP will be able to hit the basilisk and destroy it since it is low on armour.
A big problem with the SM is their high armour save can i take something more to counter that? I don't like the plasma because of their high point cost and their lonumer of chots and (compared to MP) low range.
Your gonna get creamed by the basilisks, you need a Shas'EL with fusion and plasma or fusion and missile pod, I would take the plasma becasue it will help him to deal with the Marines (3 shots at 12" with AP2/AP1 = dead marines), you also need to be really careful with the Shas because you have very little protection for him, you will need to keep him close to another unit to avoid him being targeted, but the basilisks are scatter weapons so can still get to him, you really need to lose a HH and give the Shas,El either a shield Gen (probaly compulsory with the opponents your facing) or a couple of shiled drones (but SG still leave the Shas vulnerable to basilisk shots).Originally Posted by Ivanhoejack
Me I would go for Shas'El with plasma/fusion multi and shield gen, he will be able to take out the Basilisks and any marines he shoots (remember the plasma is only expensive if it does nothing, if it takes out 2 marine its made its cost back and it gets 2 shots at 12" and AP is more important anyway because the MP offers marines a save), this Shas'El will be the most important part of your list.
Lose a DFish, 1 is plenty the FW on foot can still get around and the foot sloggers mean the opponent has to move his force to take them out as well, effectively making him split his forces and prioritise 2 different targets.
So Shas'El with PL/FU/SG and HW multi either 107 or 117 (at work so may be slightly out here) "3 low AP shots, takes out armour and characters, kills marines all good.
1 FW squad in devilfish 200 points
1 FW squad on foot 120 pts thats 427 points
I would think seriously about taking a lone XV8 with plasma/MP and multi for 57pts as an all rounder and to make the army more balanced, you will get more use out of him than a Devilfish for the foot slogger FW squad.
That totals at around 485 points so you can give the Shas'El stimulant injectors to allow him to ignore wounds on a 4+.
Try the changes I advise and I guarantee you that you will be a lot more competitve against both the lists mentoined, good luck
