The Farseer costs 5 more points. Other than that, it looks like a pretty fierce list.
RecklessFable's Journey to Mediocrity (Painting an IG army)
I've been addicted to World of Tanks lately and neglecting my IG... But it is so... much... fun!
Just noticed that, or a friend just pointed that out. 1995 then is the total.
Inteligence soruces report the movement of an Imperial Guard/Black Templar force in the deployment area!
Be careful general.
Couple things...crushing blow and Scorpion's claw is a waste of the points for crushing blow. that 1 extra point of str is really not worth it. Also, if you're going to put the farseer on a jetbike, give him either guide or fortune instead as you'll find them better at helping out iyanden armies (at least in my experience) Otherwise I'm seeing a pretty strong list, though I'd consider swapping one of the starcannons on a wave serpent for another lance, but that's just me being cautious about IG and Tau. Oh yeah, and expect to lose HARD against 'nids. As with most Iyanden lists, you simply do not have the numbers to beat even a decent horde army, sadly.
While I haven't played much 4th ed yet I'm going to disagree about crushing blow not being worth it. It isn't a lot of points and back in third ed it came in really handy against dreadnaughts and vehicles in general. This is especially true considering that while grenades are very nice to have for scorpeons you don't have an easy way to free up enough points for them
...how is a bump from Str 8 to Str 9 honestly going to make much difference? Are you expecting to have your scorpions chasing down vehicles? Even if you are, str 8 is plenty against just about anything short of a landraider/monolith, but you really shouldn't be using your CC specialists in such a way when you have FIFTEEN wraithcannons and a pair of brightlances to do the job much better.
Yeah. While in a general list crushing blow is worth it in my opinion, he's does seem to have enough anti vehicle weaponry to not need it. So drop that and get some wargear for the farseer and/or a spirit stone for a wave serpent. Maybe some vectored engines to make it a little safer to tank shock through woods and drop your troops off in cover.
While I can see where guide could come in very handy I wouldn't rule out mind war. I don't run wraithlords/guards and I find it usefull to pop off heavy weapon troopers and "hidden" powerfists. This would go double for your forces.
It sounds like you'll be facing IG and black templars, but I wouldn't say you're hosed against nids or a hoard army. Since almost all of your force is buttoned up in transports you should be able to simply ignore most of their forces. It's just a matter of taking out the gunfexes and other AV models before too many of your troops get grounded.
Thanks for the Ideas guys.
Was fighting in a Desert/Mars like battle field. Loads of hills and rocks.
Mission: Wipe out the enemy.
Enemy: SMs with jetpacks, Chaplin, and some rinhos. 2 Skimmers.
By end of his turn 4 I am complatetly wiped out
His SM bikers wiped out my WL and WG squad in CC as one of 2 of them had powerfists.
I did get to shoot with the WG once or twice. But in CC they just barely held their own.
Once that Powerfist got to me it was like I lost one or 2 WG per turn. The amount od dice he was rolling was crazy.
That 12" range is a killer with the WG. Your extremly lucky to get a shot off!
They need a 16" or 18" range to make them good I think.
Other then my complete colapse my Farseer did take his Chaplin out with mind war.
He was not happy with that one
Scropions got completely wipe in CC with JPs. They got charged. I think they managed to kill 2 SMs
I really wish I could last a full game. Winning at this stage seems way out of reach
