No experience with them, so I can't comment.Originally Posted by Itchy RichyThis guy's illegal. Two shoot and one doesn't, meaning you're wasting points every turn. My advice would be give the whole brood deathspitters and rending claws (or scything talons), except for one with a venom cannon and rending claws (or scything talons), and get them all enhanced senses before you go for Toxin Sacs.Originally Posted by Itchy RichyThe value of a Lictor depends on how they're used.Originally Posted by Itchy RichyScything Talons aren't usually worth the points on Genestealers. In many cases, Spinegaunts (Gaunts with Spinefists) are more cost effective than Termagants (Gaunts with Fleshborers). Your mileage may vary.Originally Posted by Itchy RichyI'm not a big fan of Hormagaunts. I'd actually rather have a brood or two of leaping Spinerippers than a these guys, but again, your mileage may vary.Originally Posted by Itchy RichyRippers w/ Spinefists, Leaping, Toxin Sacs, and Enhanced Senses are absolutely vicious little monsters that average 7 attacks on the charge (3 in the shooting phase, four more when they assault). They're awesome, and absolutely perfect for supporting a CC Carnifex like the one you're packing. (because of the 12" charge range, the Rippers, in close proximity to a Carnifex, can easily lock down an enemy squad to ensure the Carnifex gets a charge and takes advantage of the Tusked biomorph).Originally Posted by Itchy RichyGood. By "good", I mean decent, but at least you've got enough that the Warp Blasts will probably hit once a turn.Originally Posted by Itchy RichyCrushing Claws are much too expensive for what they do. In many situations, you're better off with two sets of scything talons instead (they're cheaper and generally more effective, as there's no chance of winding up with 2 attacks when you really, really need more).Originally Posted by Itchy Richy
Scythe Tail also generally isn't worth the points, as it's terrible against Space Marines (wheras, Mace Tail is terrible against low-toughness troops). The tail weapons are too enemy-specific, and you wind up wasting points if you bring the wrong one to the fight (so I generally suggest not taking them at all).
Bonded Exo and Reinforced Chitin but no Extended Carapace? This guy will die like a chump to missiles and rokkits and just about every new AP3 weapon the Tau got. I suggest dropping Crushing Claws and your Scythe Tail in order to pick up a second set of Scything Talons and Extended Carapace. If you can find the points, I'd definitely trade the Deathspitters for a Venom Cannon. And if, by some fluke of luck, you find even more points somewhere, I'd pick up Reinforced Chitin on this guy too. You probably don't have to worry about missile launchers thanks to the long range of the VC and BS, and since most longer-ranged weapons are AP2 anyway, extended carapace isn't cost effective - however adding an extra wound greatly increases the survivability of a shooty Carnifex.Originally Posted by Itchy Richy
I think I agree with Poptartsninja. My only suggestion is to consider replacing synapse creature on the Zoanthropes with psychic scream. Of course you may feel you need the extra synapse power but I would say at least once try out psychic scream. It's cumulitive effect can be deadly.
The Zoanthropes in his list need the Synapse more than they need Psychic Scream (however, if he were to swap out Warp Blast for Psychic Scream, he'd save a few points and virtually ensure any combat he wins is a sweeping victory). Synapse is important to Zoanthropes, however, as it keeps them from being instant-killed and his list is very synapse-short as it is.Originally Posted by Leech
If I were to change the Zoanthropes, I'd actually take two with Warp Blast and Synapse, and one with Catalyst and Synapse to support the CC Carnifex with Catalyst and the shooting Carnifex with Synapse to keep it from taking Instinctive Behaviour tests.
Can someone give me a limk to the malenthrope rules? And this need to be in the list section.

Hmmm, that's true synapse is very important for this swarm. I didn't think of the synapse powers effectiveness on Zoanthropes. Synapse makes Zoanthropes a pain to kill as they must be targeted individually and require exellent AP and multiple shots to destroy. This would make them a severe pain for the enemy.
As a guideling, I take synapse so you have the following-atleast 1 squad per 10 gaunts.
So I would say, change the scything talons to EC on you're stealers (I'm assuming they're the BL's retinue, and that squad ALWAYS gets shot) and give 2 'thropes warpscream instead of synapse.
