Welcome to Librarium Online!
Okay, although Viktor has helped me previously putting together a good list for Medusa V, I thought I might try something more themed and threw in Karandras, since we know he's there!.
Farseer - Fortune, Ghosthelm, RoW, Witch Blade, Pistol
Striking Scorpions x 5 with haywire grenades (also Karandras)
Striking Scorpions x 5 with haywire grenades, Exarch with Stealth, Grenades, Claw
Warp Spiders x 8
Banshees x 8, Exarch with Executioner, in Serpent with T/L Brightlance (also Farseer)
Fire Dragons x 6 (in falcon)
Rangers x 5 (just want to use the new models!)
Warwalker x 1 with 2x starcannon
Falcon with the works - Starcannon, Shuricannon, Holofield, stones.
Also, the Serpent has Spirit Stones.
Basically, deployment is infiltration heavy as you can see - the Scorpions will hopefully get in there and engage models quite quickly, the banshees will back them up. Chances are I'll be up against an all-infantry Ultramarines army (the guy seriously doesn't know the meaning of whirlwinds - more fool him!). Marneus Calgar will likely make an appearance - and I would very much like to see him get scorpions' clawed to death by Karandras.
Fire Dragons are there to melt his terminator squad, assuming the 3 starcannons and pulse laser don't do the business (chances are I'll focus them on his tac squads early on)
Looks good, I presume thats all the models you own? if you have more I'd say beef up the scorpion squads and reduce the rangers to a squad of 3. You only need 3 to force a pinning test most of the time.
PS: don't double post.
Also whats with the triple threads???
Apologies for double posting and stuff - my work firewall is absolutely mental, and repeatedly Librarium pops up with 'database error' whenever I try and submit things - as a result sometimes the submit button gets pressed, the page refreshed and things pressed again.
And no, not all the models I own - however it is all the scorpions I have (as a rule I have 10 of each aspect and an exarch). So unfortunately there's no more beefing up of those scorps. The rangers will be in cover towards the back on a 4x4 table, so I thought 5 might enhance their killing potential. Against smurfs they're not going to pin much... Dropping 2 rangers wouldn't give me room to add anything I don't think - except perhaps a spider exarch. Or I could drop the rangers and the warwalker and take a wraithlord?
Would it be worth combining the scorp squads to take advantage of having them fearless? seems to be putting eggs firmly in one basket.
nah your scorpion squads are fine and since you don't have more no need to drop rangers. Besieds the 2 claws will be good against SMurfs. War walker is also better than a wraithlord in this case as you dont want a slow unit.
RoW doesnt really tell us what you have usually you just write witness or ward. I presume its witness of cause.
Forune isn't really the best power as its main use is when something is footslogging but nothing in your army is. I'd say 1. drop the farseer altogether or if you like him 2. give him guide and drop the ghosthelm and witnessing. It doesnt matter if he gets hurt as hes not expected to go fighting and win anyway.
If you drop the farseer and 2 rangers that should about give you the points for either a wraithord or 2 vypers to increase your ap2 firepower.
Thanks - I'll seriously consider dropping the seer. He's a bit vestigial from another list which has 2 guardian squads with warlocks. However, I have found that the Banshees frequently get gunned down, and when they have to take wounds from and exploded serpent, fortune is uber-handy. It's also quite useful in protracted CC with normal marines.
Thinking about it, I did play with the list a bit - dropped one fire dragon (leaving 5 in the falcon) and 2 rangers and took my vyper w/starcannon. This puts the list up to exactly 1500. 5 dragons isn't as good as 10, but it makes good for running a falcon up close, turning it, dropping them out and bolstering the BS3 firepower from the tank (should make short work of a Termie or Tac squad)
fortune doesnt work while in cc. You cant cast powers while in cc. Means you only get 1 turn of it since your in a vehicle. Guide would be better. However I'd say no farseer altogether.
Thats a bit like all your eggs in one basket, but its a heck of basket..Thinking about it, I did play with the list a bit - dropped one fire dragon (leaving 5 in the falcon) and 2 rangers and took my vyper w/starcannon. This puts the list up to exactly 1500. 5 dragons isn't as good as 10, but it makes good for running a falcon up close, turning it, dropping them out and bolstering the BS3 firepower from the tank (should make short work of a Termie or Tac squad)
Dont turn in falcon around, keep that 12 AV twards the enemy, remember its a skimmer so your units can see under it (but they can also be seen)
However, 5/6 fire dragons + the firepower of a falcon should take care of what ever ails you.
Good Luck, also i think the farseer would be best with furtune, and mindwar.
why fortune and mind war? When he jumps out of his wave serpent he will only have time to use 1 power before assaulting. No point taking both. I dont like fortune for cc troops since it will only work for the 1st round of combat. However mind war means you won't be able to use it and FoF.
Its your choice which one but I would advise against both. My advice is just take guide.
Well, for example, if you where charging a squad of space marines, you could mind war the powerfisted sgt, and take your chances against bolter marines.Since these units are in a wave sperant, they cant assault when they get out. However mind war means you won't be able to use it and FoF.
Anyway, if you jump out of your serpant, your best off staying behind it, so that the enemy cant charge you.
In your next turn, you move out and now you have the option to leave the unit with your farseer.
So if you need to mindwar a very good veteran sgt, or something, you can.
Maybe its not worth the points, but i think it is.
Or you could get the thing which lets you cast two powers, but thats getting very expensive, but would make this unit significantly better in CC.
