I am new to Tau so I apologize if I blunder somewhere with the rules. Being a campaign list I am to assume its an all comers type list.
You seem to have a large volume of shots which would do well against most armies. Though I notice you are a bit lacking in the medium - hard infantry department. Your army has a ton of Str 5 weapons, the the big thing I see is that your armies AP is 5, with a Missile pod at Ap 4. The rail gun is the only thing that I see that can punch Meq armor and if you are using rail guns to snipe Meq's your are directing the gun at the wrong targets.
Also is the Min squad of Kroot going to do much? The only thing I can see it as is a screen for your Stealths. Everything else is Mech or the HQ.
It is less of an all-comers type list and more of a anti-Eldar list, as my average enemy will be Eldar. However, it's going to be upgraded in points by the time I start facing off against other armies (Marines). And it's quite alright if you're new to Tau! All advice is appreciated!Originally Posted by Cronk-SmashVery valid point - something that I sort of missed when first making it. However, I'm not too worried, as this is just a preliminary list designed mostly for lighter infantry - predominantly, Eldar. As I upgrade to 1500 and 1850 (my max, for tourneys), more Crisis Suits, etc. will be implemented to fill in the much-needed anti-MEQ firepower. Thanks for pointing that out though! For now, I'll just have to rely on my high-volume of high-strength shots. You seem to have a large volume of shots which would do well against most armies. First, their shooting is almost as good as a Fire Warrior's and they have a fairly high strength gun. Second, they can infiltrate. Third, they are superb models when in jungles. All for just one more point than a Guardsman, which brings up my next point. These guys are on harassment duty - it is a mistake to assume that Kroot are the fill-in unit for assault in the Tau lines. Sure, WS and S is fairly decent and all that - their Initiative, however, is not. They also can't be sure to survive a single round of combat, having, at best, a 6+ armour save. No, they are much better as a harassment duty - infiltrate, take/hold objectives, contest table quarters, and take pot shots at the enemy. They'd be good for hunting enemy infiltrators, as well. It won't be a screen, it'll be a harassment unit - if the enemy decides to go shoot it down, that's only 70 points.. not a hammer blow to my army by any means! If the enemy decides to ignore it, the squad will tear into some units, especially lightly-armoured Guardians, etc. the entire game. Also is the Min squad of Kroot going to do much? Thanks for the advice! ^_^
Well looks pretty good IMO though if you are fighting mainly eldar I think you may want to try the TL flamer unit as it can be very usefull in harrasment and could actually kill a lot of eldar. They usually come out to around 34pts (TL flamer and blacksun filters) though you can always go for 43pt one (TL flamer and F so it can take on some tanks somewhat. Nice thing is they are so cheap and can be put in single squads so more then likely the enemy won't shoot at them thus they have a decent chance of flaming a unit and even better if you deepstrike them. Though I don't know where you could get the points for it other then droping the TA on the stealth suits maybe otherwise just a suggestion.
Is it me or does any other necron player get annoyed when they see people saying "Necrons eat souls". How is that even possible as souls are part of the warp and necrons want nothing to do with it? Eh probaly me just me being picky.
