I've decided to start eldar, as I like their background and models. Because the new codex is coming out in October, I've decided to not buy anything apart from mabye a few guardians to come up with a colour scheme. I've tried to organise my favourite models into a plan for the list. I don't have the codex so all the points costs have been scavanged from others lists!
For HQ I'm not sure what to do. I don't want to spend alot here and I would go with the avatar but it is getting more expensive in points and might not be right for my list.
6 Guardians (8 total)
6 Guardians (8 total)
For around 200 points I have a backing fire group which can advance and bring down stuff from a distance without suffering too much fire themselves.
2 squads of 3 rangers
These will be based in cover and will try to pin squads or wound high T models. Do you have to wound a model in a squad to attempt to pin or just shoot at them?
about 6 dark reapers
I love these guys because they can bring down marines so easily. The exarch with the Tempest Launcher (G36 Str 4 Ap3 Heavy 2 blast) and crack shot may be very effective but I don't know how many points it will be.
Falcon with starcannon, Holo, spirit Stone
I have played against this combination and it can be very annoying. When you do penetrate its armour it always counts as glancing and with the lowest dice out of 2 rolls it will take a 5 to immobilise and crash it or 6 to destroy it. With this its only a 1/9 chance to destroy it.
6 fire dragons
These will ride in the falcon and be anti-tank. They seem to be effective doing this.
So I have around 160 points for an HQ and something else.
Be free to comment on what works and what doesn't in the list. I haven't bought anything yet so i can swap things round if i want.
:ninja: Scavenged points costs:ninja:
Well, we are having a discussion about Falcon w/ Fire Dragons now in the main Eldar forum under 'Falcon... A Transport?' I encourage you to read there, especially Cheradine posts, and if you can handle the mathhammer, some of mine.
I think it'd only be useful against isolated command squads which really don't exist much anymore) or any other isolated groups (which again, don't exist anymore.)
It's not in the Eldar Codex. Fast shot w/ Reaper launcher is close though. If only they could carry starcannons... hmmm.

Gareth is the person I try to impress when I convert and paint.
Thats where I got the idea fromOriginally Posted by AstantiaThis was an anti-tank unit. 12" movement, disembark and shoot with 6" for melta effect. I don't know what you mean by attackng command squads because they would just get roasted by surrounding fire. Another advantage of attacking tanks is they can hide behinmd the destroyed vehicle so they can't be shot, then embark next tuen.Originally Posted by Astantia
THey might have a go at termies though but vehicles will be n.o 1 priority. Its the new weapon for dark reaper exarches in the next codex. Sorry, i should have mentioned that. I got the information here http://www.warseer.com/forums/showth...737#post820737Originally Posted by Astantia
Should I keep the units in the list?
What should I have for HQ and the remaining points?
