I can't seem to get away from the ork models when I want to do a new army. I have an idea to create a Necron army using Ork models (thus the reason it can't be a tournament army).
Nightbringer (Ghazghkull) 360
8 Immortals (Ork boys with double decker shootas and armor plates) 224
8 Flayed Ones with D-Fields (Orks with open hands/closed fists and ork swords attached) 168
3 Squads of 16 Warriors (Orks with Shootas) 864
3 Destroyers (Ork eavy weapon boy with Big Shoota on a Warbike fixed to a flying base) 150
3 Heavy Destroyers (same but uses Rokkit Launcha) 165
(note on the warbikes: the twin-linked big shootas and bosspoles are removed)
Army is 1961 points
Is it too silly or too powerful? Would any sane tournament runner allow it? What about an Orky Monolith?
The idea is cool for a friendly list, and as for the heavy destroyers, i would make them for the fun of it but not actually use them in a 2000pts game. Get a regular lord with res orb, and another lord with orb and VoD for your immortals.Originally Posted by Mindwarboss
As for whether you would use it in a tourny? Thats a big NO. No questions asked. It just aint going to happen im afraid At least not at the tourneys in my country
As a Neron and Ork player, I think this may not be such a good idea. the differences between the statlines of the things you're having "count as" each other are huge. If you really want this loadout, just use the conveniently flexible Ork codex to make an Ork army with Jetbikey warbikes, Nobs in lots of Mega armor, and lots of 'ard boyz?
Not to mention the fluff problems...
Ork 1: "Oi! We'z lost sevunty fyve purcent! We'z gotz ta go!"
Ork 2: "But whut about da Mob Rule, Boss?!"
Ork 1: "Ferget that! We'z fasin' out!"
I dont think he meant it in the sense of "these 2 are simillar enough so we are going to call it 'blah'". All i think he was getting at was kind of like using his orks as a proxy army of necrons. So the units would have all the stats that a necron model would normally have, he's just using an ork model that looks simillar or is carrying a simillar weapon in order to represent that necron model on the battlefield.
All he's basically saying is he wants to play with necrons because he likes their rules and stat-lines, but cant get away from how cool orks look. So with that in mind he will use ork models that have been slightly converted in order to represent those necron units he would have played with.
