    An idea for hounds...

i was jsut wondering if it would be allowed in official GW game play as well as tournaments to use LotRs miniatures as warhammer 40k ones? In this example i am wondering if i could use the goblin Warg minis in place of kroot hounds.

    Is it acceptable or no?

No. GW explicitly forbids the use of LoTR figs in 40k or fantasy armies.

Yeah, but everywhere else you could get away with that. Ask polietly, and remind them of how hard it is to buy 10 packs of hounds.

Those cold ones look too big for hounds. But do cold ones work for the tracker kindred? Send answers in PM to keep this thread on focus. So how many wargs do you have now, and are they small enough?

I know a people who uses fantasy models for 40k (even GW staff) but they all convert them. So I think that it would be alright to do.

I have the same problem with having to buy a lot of hounds. I'm using 20 hounds in my own Tau list. So far I have proxy ed different stuff for my hounds but now I think that I'll need to find a final solution and I'm not going to buy 10 packs of hounds, that is simply too expensive.

But to answer the question shortly: Yes you can use fantasy models if you convert them so they fit in....
Dragons do flame.... but only when they are upset or they want to

According to new signature rules my hydra (the only reason for it to be here was to please Caluin) have been removed. But still dragons pwnz hydras anytime

i would say no for the wargs, or any of the fantasy figs. i'm not saying you can't use lotr/ fantasy in 40k, its just that warges/ wolves don't look like kroot hounds. i would allow someone to use wargs for something more believable, such as chaos hounds or something similar, but kroot hounds don't look very similar to wargs. you could however do a conversion and use the warg as a base for the model and use green stuff on the head to make it look more kroot-like. or, you could chop off the warg's head and replace it with a more bird like head, and use green stuff to fix up the model.

You can use fantasy models in 40k. The only thing gw forbids is using lotr models in 40k or fantasy because of the copy right laws on lotr with newline cinemas. you should be 100% ok with using something for the fantasy line in your 40k games, as long as you point out that those wolves, hellhounds ect are infact kroot hounds, as they don't look like em.
