Cyclic Ion Blaster
Sniper Drone Sqaudron
NICE! Perhaps my favorite HQ load-out for a Tau Commander. The CIB seems to take a lot of heat on this forum, but I swear by it. It's great against everything with a 4+ save, and can even take down 1 or 2 marines a turn. Combined with the PR, it's like a helios, but better against infantry.Originally Posted by HeiromyoHmmmm.... I have to be honest and say I don't like these one bit. You already have enough S5, AP5 weaponry in the tau army that you simply don't need more. They are cheap to field, I admit, but they fill a currently filled spot in your army. Make them able to kill 3+ saves and elite troops. Perhaps go for PR/MP or PR/FB for a more reliable suit?Originally Posted by HeiromyoTAs are fine on stealths, but if you do the mathhammer, their efficiency is exactly the same. Although it is nice to hit on 4+... I personally would drop the TAs and just go with a stealth suit team.Originally Posted by HeiromyoSome people see these as marine killers... but I see marines as efficient vespid killers. But they could be helpful for you if you can use them right. I can't seem to get the hang of them at all, so I don't field them. Needless to say, in your list they seem like a good addition, but I would think that suits could do a better job and last longer.Originally Posted by HeiromyoGood choices. You might want to add a DL to your DF, and bump up the squads to 12 FWs for that added hit when they jump out. Overall good, though.Originally Posted by HeiromyoAgain, I would add the DL to the HH as you'll be getting shot at all of the time, but a nice, classic choice.Originally Posted by HeiromyoI was really disappointed with the Sniper Drones after buying 3 when they came out. They are interesting, but are really fragile and can't do the damage that I thought they should be able to do. Plus, since the rest of your army is so mobile, and they aren't, they are going to disappear really quickly.Originally Posted by Heiromyo
Overall, not a bad list, but I would try to get a little more vehicle killing in the list (another HH or a unit of Helios suits). Trty to maintain a completely mobile force, or go 1/2 and 1/2. One non-mobile unit is a dead unit, and can mess up your plans.
Anyway, this is all my opinion, hope it helped.
Not bad as all even though I don't like the CIB but if it works for you then it is alrightOriginally Posted by HeiromyoNever good IMO to have teams of 3 crisis's and as already pointed out you won't actually need the burst cannons since you have enough S5 AP5 shots you will be better set with some high S weaponsOriginally Posted by HeiromyoNice I love stealths and giving them a better BS is not bad but I don't know how effective it is, but I'm glad that you uses themOriginally Posted by HeiromyoYeah vespids I like them but they are kind of hard to use so you might end of with having them killed before the earn them self backOriginally Posted by HeiromyoOnly thing I have to say about these is DL always take DL at your vehicles and you might as well drop the SMS and take the drones insteadOriginally Posted by HeiromyoOnce more take DL else a good HHOriginally Posted by HeiromyoI have no really experience with these guys but they are the only thing in your army that aren't mobile so the might fall behind and not being used most of the time.Originally Posted by Heiromyo
If you want some good stationary fire then take broadsides instead. You will also need them taking out armour and high T good save models.
Overall a nice list but you lack anti-armour and anti-MeQ weapons.
You are dead when your vespids and HH are dead, and without DL the HH will die early in the game and you vespids are very fragile so they will also die pretty soon
You really, need more anti tank fire in this list. You have a lot of str 5 firepower but that wont win games.

The "A Smart Player Will..." theory is a complete paradox. If we make an assumption that everything we do is outsmarted, then theoretically we can never win.
