Hello all ^^ i've been playing Eldar (particularily Ulthwe) for a couple of months now...winning and losing some, if you guys can give me some opinions on how to make my army alot stronger, please feel free to suggest and bash
here i go!
Farseer - witchblade, sp || guide, mind war
2 Weapon Crew - Starcannon
1 Warlock - Conceal
2 Weapon Crew - Starcannon
1 Warlock - Conceal
4 Dark Reapers
1 Dark Reaper Exarch - Missle Launcher || Fast shot
2 Support Batteries
Farseer is going to be around this crew for Guide use and an independant character for Mind War when Guide wasn't needed
1 Waveserpent - TL Starcannon
9 Striking Scorpions
1 Striking Scorpion Exarch - Scorpion Claw || Stealth, Crushing Blow
I have alot of units, i have Fuegan, more wraithguards, fire dragons, banshees, rangers, warp spiders..and i can get other units quite easily...i was thinkin of running a 3 Vyper squad with 3 starcannons so they would rip through heavily armored guys (obliterators/space marines)
I want this army to be Crushing against armies like Space Marines...
oh and also, the reason i didn't add any Wraithlords is because i'm not buying em till the new ones come out hehe...so much cooler ^^
tell me what u guys think ^^
thanks for your time in reading all of this
I rarely use the Avatar, and when I do it's just to be a fire magnet, or a cheap counter assault unit for a very shooty army. I would suggest dropping him.
You're Farseer doesn't need a witchblade considering it won't really be in CC, and it shouldn't be. Also, I wouldn't use two powers on the farseer, but instead have it complete one task, which should be guiding your troops and not mind-warring IC's, because most IC's have LD 10.
Pretty good, but if you really want to rip apart Marines I would make tons of 5 man defender squads with a starcannon platform.
As good as Dark Reapers look, with their ap3 weapons, they cost a lot of points, and the enemy usually tends to shoot at them first. They sometimes do very well, but rarely make up for their point cost, atleast for me, once the enemy see's how powerful they are, They just aim everything they have until 5 T3 Eldar are gone.
The support batteries are good as they are, IMO.
I usually find that Fire Dragons inside a Falcon w/ a starcannon are much better against MEQ and make a very good anti-tank role. For there point cost, I say they might do better against enemy armor, then wraithgaurd, even though wraithgaurd have better survivability, the firedragons seem to get things done more efficiently.
The Striking Scorpions seem to be infiltrating alone and are you're only assault unit. Even though they have a 3+ save, the Scorpions do not have marine toughness. Your enemy will most likely shoot at these guys before they can do any sufficient damage. Also, your exarch doesn't need +1 Str, because he is already str 8.
What you might want to do, is have storm gaurdians support your scorpions, and have them both travel in seperate Wave Serpents, while having a firebase composed of a good amount of starcannons to weaken, or completely obliterate enemy squads. Then you can have some Fire Dragons, or Wraithgaurd travel in a falcon and serve as either tank hunters, or anti-MEQ troops.
Hope this helps.
sweet man, that was a very good reply
ya it is true, after 1 roung of my Dark Reapers tearing up a squad of marines, they get 1 enemy round of firepower at them lol till they evaporate..
I really like the whole 5-6squads of 5man guardians equipped with Starcannons, that really would do alotta damage..i also hear Vypers are really good, 3 of em with starcannons only cost about 200points!
i like alot of the suggestions, everyone else please feel free to make more suggestions..i'm still kinda confused so the more suggestions and mods the better
thank you so much for your reply man, it helped me think things out..its just, everytime i try to be offensive with Eldar it always blows up in my face..and god i HATE insane CC enemies...all they do is find their way into my pack of guardians and they play dolls with them while i'm helpless to shoot
thanks again for your reply
i'm definatley up for more suggestions and opinions from others too please!
unfortunately in the new codex the guardians squads have a minimum squad size of 10. this is going to rule out your option of a lot of 5/6 man starcannon squads.
take spirit stones on your farseer so you can use two powers a turn . I am going to use it for guide and doom.
If you are going to take vypers try to split them into 3 units of 1. this way hits won't be spread on your vypers and you have more scoring units to grab objectives and claim table quarters.
