Basically this army can flip between defensive and aggressive mode at will.
In defensive mode (against horder armies etc) evrything except the raider squads can sit back and shoot with all squads except the Wyches disembarked to allow for maximum targets and minimum casualties formt he enemies (hopefully minimal) shooting. The two raider squads boost forward and distract the enemy wither with fire or in assault, whcihever is most appropriate at the time. The reason for doing this is to allow these two squads to act as 'suicide squads' and break the neemy into at elast two pieces which cna be managed as they come in by the rest of the army. This type of game should run 6+ turns depending on the opponent. Remmeber if they are horribly weakened you can switch to offensive style rush them and watch your opponents face fall as what he took to be a stand and shoot army turns into a tide of close comabt death.
In aggressive mode the Sniper Squad and ravagers sit back and shoot whilst the raiders and two large warrior squads advance on the enemy. The objective here is to fleet the large warrior squads durign the frist turn of movement and mvoe the raiders into cover as possible. On the second turn the plan is then to assault with the raider bourne units whilst using their dark lances to deal with armour and the two large squads for covering fire. In turn 3 the two large squads join the assault pretty mcuh to mop up. This type of game should be over by turn 4.
This is a variant on my standard army (which I will repost at some point as I'm sure its no longer up here) with the WWP removed.
I like this list, alot. Seriously, this list looks fun, and it also looks like it would do well. Kudos to you, because this is one of my favorite Dark Eldar lists.:w00t Seriously though, tell me how this list does in games, because it seems unbelievably amazing with the ability to be both defensive and offensive. I can keep going on and on about this list. Just wondering though, why not warp beasts?

This list and its brother the WWP variant have a 2.5 year straight winning run under their belts followed by 8-9 wins and two losses in local/cross reigonal tournament level play (and one loss to a new player in their second game... erm don't know what happened there.)
At local tournament level have won a 1000 point tournament outright with the 1000 point variant of this list.
Why no warp beasts? Because I play them in the 2000 point variant when I ahve more points to spare. 75 spare points would be spent on a few other things in this list rather than warp beasts if I had 75 more anyway. They are good (and I do like my warp beasts) but I prefer them to be delivered via portal and in higher points games where they are even less likely to be seen as a high priority target. I have never seen someone choose to shoot the warp beasts in 2000 rather than try to hit one of the three ravagers or a raider that might contain a juicy unit.
Thanks for the positive comment.
karantalsis, you've gone and started making lists nobody can make better, because you're a master.
Seriously, though, I do like this list..
I was wondering, though, how the Splinter Cannons work for you in the HQ retinue? I would assume that the enemy would take off models to try and get you out of assault range..
The other advantage is that the splinter canon and pistol shots combined with the attacks on teh charge of a squad this size doesn't kill a 10 man marine squad on the charge, it reduces it to 2-4 men which can't do serious damage to the sqauad (especially as they tend to focus on the Dracon) and can easily be killed with high intiative power wepaon attacks in their own turn, leaving me free to rinse and repeat in mine.
Sorry for the slightly lengthy explanation hope it answered the question .
Makes sense - howabout for the enemy? If I were your enemy, and you blasted me with Splinter Cannons while within assault range, I would do my best to take off the models in the front if possible to take the rest of the unit outside of your assault range. Do you just not shoot the Cannons when that close, or?
The cannons are assault weapons I if I am in assault range I shoot them then assault I am never bordering on assault range as I am raider mounted so I am either 18-20 inches away or already inc lose combat, they don't get a chance to use clever rapid fire tricks.
Oh also somehting I relise alot of people don't know. If you have your incubi as far forward as your dracon and thus jsut as close to the enemy you can get your dracon to charge 8" using the 12" assault drug and remain in coherency. Just a tip for suprising the unwary 6 ich guessers out there.
The first thing that caught my attention was the small size of the HQ unit, I would definitely get a few more warriors to soak some casualties up.
Which is about the only thing I would touch in this list. Looks quite alright!
""What's the matter? Don't ya like clowns? Don't we make ya laugh?" - Captain Spaulding.
More warriors in the HQ unit will mean not saving on 3+ when I need to be and thus taking more casualties as a result, yes they'll be warriors, but they increase the cahnce of me runnign away. In addition they can't offer frie support as they're weapons are rapid fire and are not that useful in close combat.
I'm not advanced enough to critizise your list in any way. In fact, I do think it looks quite good, although I was wondering why you just have taken a single Sinper Squad. On the other hand 6 DL and 7 Blasters may be enough anyway.
What I really wanted to say is that I'm not sure about this part:When I asked in the rules forum I got the answer that it's unlikely to be allowed.Originally Posted by karantalsis
