    First Tau List 750 Points

Hey, I've played against Tau a lot, and.. hated them. Being a Dark Eldar and Eldar Player, I always find my troops almost completely obliterated before they reach Tau lines. I play a WWP portal variant of Dark Eldar, which means I have little units starting on the board, and these units need to survive so I can get the rest of my army out to ahnnilate the Tau . Anyway, after playing against them, I realized that they actually look like a very fun army. So, without further adieu, I give you my first Tau List. Please, feel free to tear apart this list and give me any useful tips to make it better.

    HQ
Shas'el- Cyclic Ion Blaster, Fusion Blaster, Plasma Rifle, Hard-Wired Multi-tracker, Stimulant Injector

    112 Points

    Elite

    Crisis Battlesuit Team
1x Team Leader- Missile Pod, TL- Plasma Rifle, Hard Wired Multi Tracker

    77 Points

    Elite

    Stealth Team
    6x Shasui- Burst cannons

    180 Points

    Troops

    10x Firewarriors

    100 Points

    Troops

    12x Fire Warriors
1x Devilfish Transport - Burst Cannon, Decoy Launchers, 2 Gun Drones

    205 Points

    Heavy

    Broadside Battlesuit Team
1x Shas'ui- TL Railgun, Smart Missile System, Mutli-Tracker

    75 Points

The List comes down to 749 Points.

The Shas'el can either travel with the other battlesuit or alone, they will hopefully provide more anti-MEQ, and Anti Armor to help out the broadside and mobile Firewarrior Squad, aswell as the Stealthsuits, which are also there to back up the Fire Warrior Team to get into place.

As I said before feel free to rip apart this list.

    Thanks,
    Dims.

Eh, I'm not a huge fan of throwing more than two weapons on any one model. I'd drop the CIB and go for the Fusion/Plasma combo, along with a Targeting Array. Stimulant Injectors will be good here, so keep 'em. That'll take you down to 107 points on this guy.

I'd recommend changing the Twin-Linked to a Targeting Array - it will cost the same number of points, but your Missile Pod will be hitting more often.

    Nice. I like 'em.

I'd recommend maybe finding the points for Shas'ui upgrades here, as the added Leadership will definitely benefit you. Besides that, a reasonable core of Troops, though you might swap the squads - have the lower squad number inside the transport, etc.

Not a huge fan of these guys, but not bad, regardless. I'd recommend changing the Multi-Tracker for an A.S.S., so if enemy vehicles hide, you can still move to attempt to get LOS.

The List comes down to 749 Points.

Not a bad list by any means.

That's a good list to start with and to build onto.

It's good to see you've chosen a shas'el and not an 'o, they aren't worth the points.

Grab a hammerhead next, they will serve you well.

Nice list, any of it bought yet, or are you still in the 'research' mode?

Well, I have a few stealth suits, fire warriords, and commander shadowsun to convert into a Dark Crusade looking HQ unit. However, I'm not going to be able to paint the models, because I'm trying to finish this small Tau force, and then save up for a bunch of those new Eldar, which I was lucky enough to get a few dire avengers, banshees, scorpions, and autarch .

Anyway, thanks for the positive feedback, I'm glad to know that this list will fair well, and I'm going to play test it this weekend hopefully to tell you guys how I fair against Space Wolves.

Don't take three weapons system. I'll say that you should go with what I call an advanced helios (fusion blaster, plasma rifle, hw multi-tracker and targeting array) if not a fire knife (missile pod instead if the fusion blaster). I'm really not a fan of CiB so I'll say drop that one and get a targeting array instead

Drop the twin linked plasma rifle for a plasma rifle and get targeting array instead then you missile pod will also hit more often which you will like

Not much to say here except for perhaps get a shas'ui for each team.
Personally I'll rather go with some kroots instead of the Devilfish but that just me I'm a kroot freak...:w00t:

I really don't like broadsides in small armies, in them you'll be better set with a railhead because it have submunition fire, which is ideal for dealing with infantry and you won't face enough armour in these size of battle to have to use TL railguns.

Overall a decent list very good for a first timer.

I'll say that you need to get a hammerhead with a railgun and cut your HQ down to only have two weapon system and give him a targeting array and use a TL plasma rifle on your suit simply give it targeting array if you want to make it more accurate but you don't need to IMO
Dragons do flame.... but only when they are upset or they want to

According to new signature rules my hydra (the only reason for it to be here was to please Caluin) have been removed. But still dragons pwnz hydras anytime
