Hive Tyrant + 2 x Scything Talons + Adrenal Glands (WS) + Adrenal Glands (I) + Toxin Sacs + Flesh Hooks + Wings = 166
Broodlord + Extended Carapace + Implant Attack + Flesh Hooks + 5 x Genestealers + Flesh Hooks = 180
3 x 8 x Genestealers + Flesh Hooks = 408
3 x 8 x Spinegaunts = 120
Elites: Carnifex + 2 Twin-Linked Devourers + Enhanced Senses + Flesh Hooks = 114
2 x Carnifex + Twin-Linked Venom Cannons + Enhanced Senses = 326
3 x Zoanthropes + Warp Blast each + 2 x Synapse Creature = 185
This is a variation on a list I posted the other day. If you saw the other list then differences you may notice are:
- Raveners dropped and the Elites Carnifex added
- Fewer Spinegaunts, and the same number of Genestealers but spread out into more units, and they all now have Flesh Hooks
- Considerably fewer Genestealers accompanying the Broodlord - the idea being that they will be able to Infiltrate more easily.
On the other hand, the Hive Tyrant and Carnifexes are the same. And yes, I am attatched to the double Venom Cannon setup. It has worked well for me so far!
One thing that I'm not sure about is the Genestealers all having Flesh Hooks. The Infiltrating unit is also perhaps a little fragile. A possible change to this list would be to take Flesh Hooks off one of the units of Genestealers and reduce its size to 6, reducing its cost by 40 points, and spend 20 of those points on giving the retinue Extended Carapaces and another 20 on... ? Well, Scything Talons possibly, but that makes them 25 points per model which could be expensive especially if they come under fire; or alternatively, the Genestealers that have had their Flesh Hooks taken away could be given Scuttlers.
Personaly, I always give my genestealers carapace. They are just plain better that way, point for point. Besides that though, you list looks great. I'm curious about your gunfex setup - you're paying huge points for twin-linkage, PLUS enhanced senses... if you ever miss a single shot, I will slap you. I won't try to convince you other wise though, if that's how you like it then good luck.
Tyranids: 2500 pts
Imperial Guard: 1000 pts
Witch Hunters: 1000 pts
Ok, Drop the flesh hooks on all the stealers. Give them EC instead.
2 fex's with TL VC? I wouldnt take 1! Your paying huge points for that and they would be better spent on a BS with points left over.
Finally, 3 groups of 8 stealers plus your broodlord and ret. Id take 2 units of 8-10 and spend the points saved on more spinegaunts or hormagaunts.
Drops the flesh hooks on the winged tyrant. He's manuverable enough to get around terrain and doesnt need them, also youve taken alot of slow units, so mabey the wings could be dropped in favour of a guard?
Thats just me though, in general youve got a pretty good brood there.
I do suggest a Venom Cannon / Barbed Strangler combo. At S8, the Barbed Strangler can penetrate vehicle armor, and also gives the Carnifex some utility against softer targets (like Firewarrior squads and the like).
Thank you all for replying.
Poptartsninja, I have been thinking quite a lot on the topic of AG (I) for the Hive Tyrant. It certainly is very expensive. I am also interested by your ideas about the Spinegaunts. I have been playing around with different ideas for army lists, but they all follow a very similar template - they have Heavy Support as stated and the Troops are Genestealers and Spinegaunts. One I have is the following: Broodlord & retinue unit as above, Elites and Heavy Support as above, one 40-pt Ravener for Fast Attack, 2 x 10 Genestealers without FH and 10 with them, and 3 x 10 Spinegaunts. (No HT. This list has the advantage of fielding 35 Genestealers and 30 Gaunts, and a total of 73 models and 88 wounds overall, which I like very much...) I guess you would suggest making that one 2 x 15 Spinegaunts instead, if that is your view on them? If you don't mind could you tell me the main reason you favour that method - my ideas on the matter are just that when the enemy shoots down an entire squad of the things, more of their wounds are likely to be wasted with more broods as their excess wounds won't carry over onto the next brood...
Also yes guys I love those twin-linked venom cannons nearly as much as my opponents' vehicles hate them. :D Edit - Correction: In Heavy Support in my other list (in the big paragraph) all Zoanthropes have SC.
