    Alternative list. 1500pts

In deference to the usual list, I've devised a List that lets me use some different models and provides a completely different take on the battlefield.

    HQ
    Maugan Ra
    195pts

    Elites
    Striking Scorpions
    Exarch with Chainsabres & Shadowstrike.
    8 Striking Scorpions
    181pts

    Wraith guard
    4 Wraithguard
    Warlock with Singing Spear.
Wave Serpent with Shuriken Cannons & Spirit Stone
    278pts

    Troops
    Jetbike Squadron
    6 Jetbikes - 2 Shuriken Cannons
    152pts

    Jetbike Squadron
    6 Jetbikes - 2 Shuriken Cannons
    152pts

    Fast Attack
    Shining Spears
Exarch with Star Lance & Withdraw
    2 Shining Spears
    157pts

    Heavy Support
    Dark Reapers
Exarch with Missile Launcher & Fast Shot
    4 Dark Reapers
    217pts

    Falcon
Eldar Missile Launcher, Spirit Stone, Vectored Engines
    165pts
    • Maugan Ra & The Reapers enter the Falcon and provide a massed fire squad of killing.
    • Jetbikes make the way for the Shining Spears, who perform mop-up duty for all previously mentionned units.
    • Scorpions hold the enemy back for a small time before the bulk of the force arrives.
    • Wraithguard perform shock troop roles
    Total = 1,497pts

"Scorpions hold the enemy back for a small time before the bulk of the force arrives."

erm....looks like the scorpions are the bulk of the force, you got no manpower.

And reapers in a falcon? you having a laugh?

Apart from this it doesn't actually look like a bad list. I think tho that if you dropped the wraithguard you could get some guardians to beef it up a bit, I think then it would be a nice list.

Nothing wrong with reapers in a falcon.

My only thing is scorpions holding them back. Those vehicles hit the enemy before the scorpions do trust me.

I think you should drop the wraithguard completely. Send their wave serpent over to the scorpions. Try and get a farseer /w fortune to join them.

Any spare points go to guardians. You need them badly. I think you should also drop the reaper exarch, hes not really necessary when Maugan Ra is there. Get some guardians into this list.

    Otherwise looks good.

No no, there IS something definatly wrong with reapers in a falcon, and that is the fact they can't fire.

Reapers don't want to move, they don't need to move, thats why thay have a huge range, put them in a falcon and you lose two turn of fireing at least. Don't spend 200 pts on a unit just to not use it.

In that case, I'll leave the Falcon to do nastier things.
And the Wraithguard were ditched for a bunch of Guardians with a Scatter Laser & Wave Serpent with 2 Shuriken Catapults.

    1) You don't have to leave the Reapers in the Falcon all game.

    2) Okay, and what if they have pretty much nothing in LOS? I'd rather have them able to move if necessary to get that better LOS, so they can keep on shooting.

Reapers, and other units like them, aren't a black-or-white unit. You can do things differently, and it will work. Just look in the grey area.

I say leave the reapers in the falcon. Its against the norm but thats what you are trying to do with this list. Don't spoil a cool theme.

Reapers often have problems with LoS and a falcon can solve that. Falcon can also use its huge speed to get reapers to good locations where they are hidden from return fire but still killing enemies. another benefit is they can't be assaulted as the falcon can evacuate them.

Also a falcon is not a dedicated transport. Your reapers aren't stuck with it. If you think the game you are currently playing will benefit from your reapers staying outside them leave them out and use your falcons guns.

Exactly! But the Reapers, Maugan Ra, & the Falcon are my Heavy-hitting unit (see the thread).

But with 12 Guardians in a Wave Serpent instead of Wraithguard, does it look feasible?

They aint gona do hitting of any sorts if ther're in a falcon.

Okay, and what if they have pretty much nothing in LOS? I'd rather have them able to move "if necessary to get that better LOS, so they can keep on shooting."

Then they have not been set up very well at all, they should have somthing to shoot at first turn, if not move them via foot, if they got nothing to shoot at second turn then you've made a mistake when setting them up.

If you start the game with them in a falcon they are going to lose two turns of shooting at least and a falcon with a squad of reapers in costs over 300pts, I know if I was playing you that falcon would be coming down first turn no matter what.
