Okay I haven't played 40k in like 4 years. Moved recently and well for lack of the other games I was playing I am going back to 40k. I made up a couple of army lists one for 'nids and the other for eldar.
My nid list
Brood Lord 102pts
Warrior x 3 R/S Sv 99
Warrior x 4 R/S Sv 132
Warrior x 4 R/S Sv 132(think I upped something else cant remember)
GeneStealers x 10 Scutter 190
GeneStealers x 10 Scyth 200
GeneStealers x 10 Scutter/Flesh 220
Hormagaunts x 15 Scyth
Hormagaunts x 20
Hormagaunts x 22
Carnifex R/S 96
Carnifex R/S 96
That is the jist of it, Oh yeah the warriors had Bioplasma as well. Basically I went with no ranged weapons. I just like the feel of Tyranids being all hand to hand guys. Fits my preception better.
give the broodlord a small retinue, the warriors leaping, the genestealers extended carapace, or nothing at all and i would replace you carnifexes with zoanthropes at the least because fexes will never make it across the field not to mention why did you put rending claws on carnifexes, models dont get a save against them and they are already strong enough to take out tanks either give them two sets of scything talons or give them a set of crushing claws, back to the zoanthropes, your going to want some ranged anti tank/anti speeder, ever try getting your claws on something that can move a minimum of a inch and a max of 24" maybe more depending on the army, your troops arn't going to be able to keep up with meq's alone
Legion Of Everblight: Abyslonia
Protectorate of Menoth: Grand Exemplar Kreoss
I can drop 3 stealers from one squad and make it a retinue, that gives me the points to have 1 warrior squad to have leaping. gives a farther reaching synapse I guess.
Carnifex's are only there for Eye Candy big reason why they are less than 100 pts each.
Wont drop scything talons from the Genestealers that have it, if people are shooting at them they'll die anyways even if they get a +1 save. worthless in my opinion.
The Hormagaunts are there to get into melee as quick as possible, blocking LoS so the Genestealers can get into melee the next turn.
Making the list faster makes the list have far fewer models which is why you get the CC lists aren't competitive.
40k is won by how many models are on the table not how good or uber each model is.
The suggestion to make the list move faster is a sound one, because the quicker you get into Close Combat, the less you get shot at. If you start to tie up units in combat, then you can give your Carnifex's a chance to get in on the action.
Also don't forget if you get any sort of mission where you have to hold onto objectives, then you are going to want that extra speed. I would go with the Flying Tyrant to help out in that department.
Everyone's given you good advice so far, I'll add that if you want to screen your genestealwers with hormies then you need to lose the scuttlers or the GS's will actually be screening the hormies.
EDIT: the warriors really need leaping, at least just so they can keep up with the hormies. And carapace actually makes a huge difference on genestealers, against bolters it means whether or not you get a save at all
Tyranids: 2500 pts
Imperial Guard: 1000 pts
Witch Hunters: 1000 pts

I know 40k is about models not gear, you should see my space marine lists.
The more models I have on the table the more you have to kill then it becomes a battle of attrition. Can your Blood Angel commander with suped up Honor Guard kill enough of my models before they die? Nope.
As for the 6 vs 20. Dont state the exceptions as the norm.
Just how many points is your Flying Tyrant costing?
I never said the units block LoS I said CC blocks LoS.
I also assume that leaping is move 12 assault 6 and not move 6 assault 12, if it is the latter than leaping warriors is a waste of points
