is the eldar army boxed set that special, it has almost no mobility, and your left with either a squad of banshees or dragons foot sloggan. It has good fire power, but no way for it to get close to the enemy
what do you think

I looked at it, and decided to get a couple of the battleforce sets and a couple of squads of aspect warriors instead.
Since I wasn't too bothered about the limited edition autarch (it's nice, but too similar to the regular one), that approach seems to have given me more figures for my money.
Although, after looking at the new autarch selling on eBay for about £20, I'm wondering if I took the wrong option.
*shrugs* I blame the vyper! Didn't want the thing, didn't buy the army box.
I'd say its probably a pretty good buy. It gives you everything that you need to play a game. 1 HQ, 2 Troops, and even some other units. It won't the best army ever created, but it is a great place to start collecting your force.
You just need to make sure that you'll have the will power to paint it all. You might find yourself with a 5 foot high mountain of black primed models that never seems to get any smaller.

you will save about 10 bucks buyin it, but im just not sure if i would rather spend the money on a different army or one or two battle forces, and a few aspects.
comments and personal experiance plz.
Personal experience: when i started my tyranid army i just got the battleforce straight away because it was a good deal for money and my friends told me a battleforce is a good place to start an army. After a couple of weeks of reading and re-reading the codex i made a great list of models that could take down almost any army, but the problem was that i was using only 1 model form that battleforce in it.
My Advice: Thoroughly read the codex, make an army list and commit yourself to it before you go off buying mountains of models you might never use.
Eldar are the greatest thing besides doughnuts and meat pies
good point thanx
I picked up the box army and battle force. It is not a super specialized force but it comes with enough models to properly field a little less than 1500 pts. I beleive with the models from the 2 sets you have a well rounded force.
But I have since dropped some models and added others like farseer, warlocks, scorpions, and dark reapers. ( Can't leave home without these guys and all those meq armies)
and you save more than 10$ it is $32.50. $277.50 (cutting the guardian squad box in half becuase you get 8 in the army and 16 in the squad box) and the box is $245. But also the first total is plus tax if you buy it at a store and plus shipping if you buy it online.
Although I picked up the eldar box army and battle force for 257 shipped w/insurance on ebay. Both brand new.
The battle force by itself i think is kind of crappy. 5 dire avengers -crappy, 10 guardians with a platform- ok fine, 1 war walker- they excel in groups, 1 wave serpent-fine.
As for starting a different army the space marine and tau mega force sets they have out are good buys. Since space marine armies are so costly points wise the mega force and a battle force or a few more boxes of models and you have alot of points worth of models. There fore giving you a variety of choices in army selection. As for the Tau mega force, it has alot of models including 2 tanks and 3 pirahanas, but since i do not know how much they are points wise I can not accuretly tell how many points wise it is.

I've never bought a battleforce. Most of it i bought from blisters... Everyone else i know has a nice light army box, me i got 2 ton army. I guess if someone pisses me off i could pack up my army and beat them with it. Anyway, I prefer to paint pewter anyway.
