Hi, I'm just wondering if I can get any tips or help with a Tau army I'm setting up for Conflict. It's 749/750 points.
Here it is:
Crisis HQ X1 128pts - including shield drone
Crisis suit Shas'Vre X1 85 pts
Stealth Suits X 3 90 pts
Vespid X5 86pts
Troops X19 200pts
Hammerhead X1 160pts
That's my army list. I was thinking of either having a Hammerhead, or a Sniper drone team and 11 kroot.

First what equipment does each have--weapons, bonded, shas 'ui, Markerlights etc. information like this is needed to give advice. i like the looks of it since i cant tell what commander you have take a shas'vere definently more worth the points and keep the hammer head, sniper drones are to slow and that small of a kroot squad would get shot to pieces. dont forget the equipment when listing your army. LOL.
my bad didnt see the shas'vre part but what ever
Woops, you're supposed to post army lists in the Army List section. I'll move it for you.

Tell me what you think! - I think that rereading the forum rules is a good idea. Please, don't post the individual costs of models, weapons and upgrades. Thanks. - Firedrake28

First off your last post is extremely confusing. Your math is off by 69 points (total cost of everything is 813) with the wargear upgrades that you have equipped on your units etc. And you cannot see the point cost that you put down for them. I would suggest reading the codex thoroughly. Your army list is extremely broken, highly illegal, and makes no sense. Iím not trying to be mean to you or attack you personally Iím just trying to help ya out. So lets get to the list.
HQ: Your HQ choice does not cover what the Tau army list needs. The Crisis Suit commander is a 1+ requirement for the force organization chart which you do not have. The Ethereal is a weak choice for a HQ unit anyway. He is a ticking time bomb. Any good player is going to target him and when he is eliminated it will force your army to make a morale check (not a good thing at all)! So I would pick up (and you are required to take one) a Crisis Suit Shasíel and for wargear I would put a Targeting Array, Plasma Rifle, and a Missile Pod for his hardpoint selections and a HW Multi Tracker as a hardwired option. This will cost you 97 points (I believe) and is a much better selection. You will have a model that can lay down constant fire with a nice selection of weapons and he has IC status.
ELITES: Your Crisis Suit selection is WAY ILLEGAL. You have selected a TL Plasma Rifle, Shield Generator, and a Missile pod as the hardpoint selections. The total of that is 4 and you are only allowed a maximum of 3. Remember that twin-linked weapons take up 2 hardpoint selections. So if I were you I would run this model the exact same way as your commander but instead of taking a Missile Pod I would take a Fusion Blaster. And I wouldnít run him as a Shasívre run him as a team leader (you still gain access to the armory). It saves you 5 points and the benefits that you gain with running him as a Shasívre are +1 Attack and +1 Initiative which you should never be using with the JSJ (Jump Shoot Jump) tactic. The reason why I would put a fusion blaster on him instead of the missile pod is because you have an extreme lack of anti-armor. There is nothing wrong with the Stealth Suits.
TROOPS: This is where your list started to get confusing to me. The First Fire Warrior entry is fine until you get to the EMP Grenades. Your total for the troops choices comes out to 241 points. The only logical answer that I can come up with is that you only put the EMP grenades on 7 models making it 241 points. YOU CAN NOT DO THAT if youíre going to put EMP grenades on a model you have to apply it to the whole unit not just a certain number of models. Also the Honour Guard DOES NOT count as a Troops choice it is a retinue for the Ethereal (which counts as a HQ choice). READ THE CODEX!!!
FAST ATTACK: Iíve had limited experience with Vespids and when I do use them they are a 50/50 unit they either work very well or they are terrible. Itís up to you. The math is right though.
HEAVY SUPPORT: Again your math does not add up in this one. I assume that when you say 2 missile pod drones you meant a Smart Missile System??? And if that is the case your total points cost should only be 160 points not 180. You need to get a Multi Tracker on this that is a MUST HAVE upgrade for a Hammerhead. The ability to move 12Ē and fire every weapon on the vehicle is a nice thing to have. The way I run 2 of my Hammerheads are Railgun, SMS, Decoy Launchers, Multi Tracker, and a Target Lock. Making the points cost 180 points.
If I were you I would read the codex again and again and then again. Iím not trying to be mean or anything but thatís some of the best advice I can give you. After you do that make a new list and post it and Iíll help ya out along with many other people in the Tau part of the forum. Itís extremely active and people are very helpful. I think that covered everything. Have a good one
