Welcome to Librarium Online!
Hey guys. I've always wanted to make an Atlantean-like water craftworld Eldar army and decided I'd start. I'll do many conversions like making coral grow on the guardians' armor, water bases, and squid-banshees. How does this look for an opening list? My strongest wants are: Wraithlords, Dark Reapers, and a Farseer/Warlock (possibly mounted) squad.
Avatar of Khaine 155
Eldrad Ulthran 210
Fire Dragons x5 (in Falcon) 80
Howling Banshees x8 Exarch, Triskele, War Shout, Acrobatic 155
Wave Serpent Transport: Twin-linked Shurkin Cannon, Star Engines 115
Dire Avengers x8 Exarch, Power Weapon and Shimmer Shield, Defend 138
Dire Avengers x10 Exarch, Two Shurkin Catapults, Bladestorm 152
Guardians x17 Warlock, Conceal, Sining Spear, Eldar Missile Launcher 199
Fire Pirsm 115
Falcon: Eldar Missile Launcher, Holo-fields 170
Support Weapon Battery D-Cannon 50
1 Monstrous Creature
That's a pretty good list, especially for a 1st try.
1st of all NO missile launcher on the falcon. Always use secondary weapons on them (S6 or lower) as that lets them move 12" and still shoot all their weapons. I would advise a starcannon for this falcon as you have no real anti-MEQ guns in your army.
For competitive play dropping 6 guardians is advised and use the points to fill out your avenger/banshee squads. However since you get 16 guardians in the box feel free to ignore that advice and use them all.
Ask yourself what is Eldrad going to be doing? nothing really needs fortune (can be cast on guardians I guess but not necessary). Doom is handy but hes going to struggle with range, especially since everything else will be going at it turn 2. A normal farseer would probably be better here. Maybe a doom/eldritch storm or guide/fortune farseer. He's also not really fluffy in a non-ulthwe army.
If you turn Eldrad into a normal farseer that lets you add another D-cannon to the battery (recommended) and put more upgrades on the falcon (spirit stones is essential).
You'll also get advice to drop the D-cannon and add another fire prism. I have no doubt that will make your army stronger but it will change how it's played a fair bit. Up to you on how competitive you want your army to be.
It looks pretty good to me. I would take LL's advice and make the gaurdian squad 10 strong and bring the avengers and banshees up to 10 man units. Eldrad is cool but definitely wasted with this army. Get yourself a farseer w/ doom + singing spear. He's only 83pts but very effective. I would also try to get the second prism and try to get holofields on the prisms and wave serpent. Other than that I have to say I love seeing the avatar in a list! He's a personal favorite.
IRON WITHIN, IRON WITHOUT!
I survived LO Chat thanks to: Karmoon, Rabbit, Process, Tossy and Meish.
Is there anything you guys recommend I add to the list that isn't already there? Also, why max out the Banshees and Dire Avengers? Finally, what kind of Farseer would be best w/ this list or do you think I could/should possibly forgo one all together?
To my mind, the exarch powers for banshees are of minimal use. Dump them and get spirit stones for your serpent (and if you can find the points, the falcon too) - a stunned skimmer is a dead skimmer.Wave serpents can't have holo-fields...try to get holofields on the prisms and wave serpent.

Having an army and not owning a rulebook is like owning a car with no steering wheel.Originally Posted by amishcellphone
If you're going with a farseer I'd say take a fortune/guide one. With spirit stones and runes of witnessing.
If you want to drop Eldrad Ulthran altogether (I'd advise just turning him into a seer) then replace him with an autarch with the banshees and some more upgrades on the tanks.
Falcon needs spirit stones badly. Vectored engines as well makes it almost invulnerable.
U guys have convinced me that Eldrad should be downgraded to a Seer (fortune/guide/spirit stones/Runes of Witnessing). Do the runes' effects last the whole game or are they one use? If they're one use, I think it'd also be worth it to get the Runes of Warding considering it's a powerful ability for only 15 points.
