2000 pt list, swarmy i guess

Im looking for another project army and im thinking nids might be that army. here is my planned list.

    2000 pts, 120 model count.

    HQ – 328

    Hive tyrant
Enhanced senses, flesh hooks, two twin linked death spitters, warp field, psychic
    Scream
    Total – 164

    Hive tyrant
Enhanced senses, flesh hooks, two twin linked death spitters, warp field, psychic
    Scream
    Total – 164

The goal of these guys is to drop troops. I think they will be good at it. This will be 4 strength 6 templates per turn, twin linked. I think that should do a lot of damage. Plus if you get into combat that’ll still be bad.
Hopefully lots of wounds paired with psychic scream will get some units to run.

    Elites – 350
    Warrior brood 1 – 155
    5 warriors
scything talons, death spitters, enhanced senses, extended carapace
    total – 31 x 5 = 155

these will follow behind/with the tyrants for more fire support, combat if needed, but not my first choice.

    warrior brood 2 – 195
    5 warriors
extended carapace, (I forget this ones name, but + 1 initiative), leaping,
    scything talons, rending claws
    total – 39 x 5 = 195

main close combat unit. These guys will be gross if you get to close to them. Icky icky icky.

    Troops – 1064

    30 spine guants – 150
    30 spine guants – 150

    cannon fodder…duh…

    ripper swarm 1 – 140
    10 bases, leaping

    ripper swarm 1 – 140
    10 bases, leaping

though this seems dumb its worked before. It will shock the opponent and do some major tying up until the shock troops arrive.

    gene stealers 1 – 242
    12 stealers
    extended carapace, flesh hooks

    gene stealers 1 – 242
    12 stealers
    extended carapace, flesh hooks

previously mentioned shock troops. I tried to keep them as cheep as possible, because they will be the targets, while still keeping them effective. Lets hope they can make up their points.

    Heavies – 258

    Zoanthropes – 145
    Thrope 1 – 55
    Warp blast
    Thrope 2 – 45
    Psychic scream
    Thrope 2 – 45
    Psychic scream

Screamers will help with the combat resolutions, blaster will pop a tank maybe.

    Carnifex – 113
Two twin linked devourers, enhanced senses

    Cheap and effective. yayz

You can only have one psychic power per Hive Tyrant, I suggest you take the psychic screams, just get extended carapaces for your 2+ save. Deathspitters would work extremely well with these two as well.

    Warrior brood 1 – 155
    5 warriors
scything talons, death spitters, enhanced senses, extended carapace
    total – 31 x 5 = 155

Don't post the individual costs of the model in the brood.

I suggest making two squads of assault warriors, they are good and fun to use once they reach combat. I also suggest that you give the shooty brood a venom cannon for more fire support. Break the squads up into squads of three, Warriors are durable, large squads will like draw more attention.

    30 spine guants – 150
    30 spine guants – 150
These broods will be hard to manuever through terrain due to there size, they might hit hard but I suggest lightening them up to at least 20 each.

    gene stealers 1 – 242
    12 stealers
    extended carapace, flesh hooks

    gene stealers 1 – 242
    12 stealers
    extended carapace, flesh hooks
If you want to run these broods this large, either max out on rippers, or run 4 x 20 broods of spinegaunts to give them more protection.

    Zoanthropes – 145
    Thrope 1 – 55
    Warp blast
    Thrope 2 – 45
    Psychic scream
    Thrope 2 – 45
    Psychic scream
Each one of these is allowed to have 2 psychic powers, so I suggest you take both Warp field and psychic scream on all of them. Warp field is a must on every zoanthrope, he's living artillery what else is he truly good for?

    Carnifex – 113
Two twin linked devourers, enhanced senses
Enhance him to a sniperfex, you need more long range anti-tank.

A couple of things I noticed, both the words spinegaunt and genestealer are one word as opposed to two. Secondly you could do with some fast support. Gargoyles could do this list some good having the capability to pop light tanks. Raveners would be good, the more rending the better. Another Sniperfex for the purposes of anti-tank.

    Zoanthropes – 195
3 zoanthropes with warp blast, psychic scream

    Don't forget power armoured troops.

    3 warriors
flesh hooks, both kinds of adrenal glands, leaping, symbiotic rippers,
    rending claws, scything talons

    Warrior brood 3 - 120
    3 warriors
flesh hooks, both kinds of adrenal glands, leaping, symbiotic rippers,
    rending claws, scything talons
You don't need the WS upgrade, and you don't symbiotic rippers. Instead you really want to spend those points on Extended carapaces so that these guys don't get boltered to death before they reach combat.

    3 warriors
scything talons, death spitters, enhanced senses, extended carapace
    1 with venom cannon
Additionally if you want, if you give these guys toxin sacs they can more easily take down skimmers. Pesky skimmers.

You have enough synapse. You've only got four broods that require synapse. The thropes are fine as is.

Why, you have 5 units with synapse. You also only have 2 units that need it to function.

I agree that the warriors need ec and symbiotic rippers isn't worth it.

I would also suggest that if you can find the points to give those ranged warriors toxin sacs. It helps so much against everything and will make a big difference vs tanks.

The carni doesn't need flesh hooks for anything.

I would swap the deathspitters on the tyrant for something else. The problem is that they are only 2 shots. Although they will probably hit and wound, they just aren't that good. More devourers are probably better or if you can get in a vc. Just my opinion. The tyrants also probably don't need flesh hooks.

Don't remember who first put it in there list, but in city fight, or terrain with city buildings, flesh hooks, climb up the building shoot at everything on the board.

Eh, I never end up using them, but then again I don't play in cities much so I don't have much experience there. I guess its a personal preference, but I would rather take that off and a couple other things in order to fit in some ts or something else.

Well if he has the extra points and nothing better to "buy" then I say flesh hooks can't hurt. Its always good to experiment.
