I was also thinking of using an EML with Fastshot on the Dark reapers. Any thought on this? I went with the temptest laucher and crack shot so that if an enemy deployed out of my LO sight, i could still gets some shots off, evenflush them out of cover.
Here's my two cents.
First off I feel that you should drop the bladestorm or drop the power weapon, shimmershield and defend because it iseems uneffective to use those things together.
Second I have heard about people who have had very poor results with the Wraithsword but very good results with more ranged weapons.
Third I would think about reworking the Falcon, vectored engines don't seem necessary as long as you keep in mind that you need to avoid large numbers of heavy weapons. Also do you really need the Shurieken Cannon?
Fourth I think the Dark Reaper Exarch with an EML and fastshot is just plain awesome!
Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.
Presumably he has the shruican cannon and vectored engines because he's planning on using the thing with the fire dragons. (So it will likely be taking some serious fire). This isn't all bad as it'll take pressure off the waveserpent if he keeps it.
Personally I don't like a single waveserpent with DA. There isn't much else on the board to draw fire so there is all to high a chance it'll get put down, and DA really aren't that impressive on their own. They can jump out, bladestorm, and kill 3-4 marines. 5 if doomed. That's something, but not what I'm looking for in a unit like that.
My advice would be (assuming this is still the case) to buy a waveserpent and build a falcon for your 1000pt list. Gluing things with something tacky or weak so you can switch it later if you want. Maybe give it a scatter laser instead of a starcannon and drop the vectored engines to save points in the 1000pt version. Again make sure you can switch all that.
Same for the wraithlord, don't lock yourself in. (and BL+EML is awfully popular)
For adding the falcon drop the waveserpent and thin one of the troop choices a little. See what other people think about which.
I'm gonna have to agree with POM about the second one too. I've had some experience with the wraithlord, and he doesn't get to close before being shot down. I know it may look cool, but it should be dropped (My model still carries it, just to look cool).
Like POM said, ranged works well. I quiped my WLord with a Scatter Laser and Bright Lance. They both work effectively, because both have a 36' range, and they both help in different situations. Wouldn't you love to shoot back at those troops as many times as they hit you? Oh, wait, you only have a bright lance that shoots once.
Other than that, I find it fine
When you opt for the dual shuriken catapults, the Codex specifically states that it counts them as a SINGLE assault 4 shuriken catapult. This leads me to believe that you would only get 5 total shots with a dual shuriken cat-armed Exarch.Yea, I find that the melee weapons for the avenger doesn't work that great. With dual catapults, you get 4 shots, and when you bladestorm, you get 6 shots with the Exarch.
I'll agree that the Rules as Intended I would have hoped for 6 shots, but seeing as the rules as written are pretty explicit in stating that it counts the gun as a single weapon, then I don't see much room 'interpretation'. It is what it is, but if you can play house rules and/or your friends are fine with it, then more power to the DA Exarchs
