    1700 points Eldar

Basically, what I've been doing is fine-tune my list. I'm going for a slightly mech theme, built around Yriel. The problem here is the model count, as with all mech eldar, and my blatant refusal to use 10 bladestorming Dire Avengers. I see too many of them these days.

    The list:

    Farseer
    Jetbike
    Singing Spear
    Doom

    Yriel
    Retinue:
    4 Dire Avengers
Exarch with Defend and Power Weapon/ Shimmershield
    Goes in Falcon

    6 Pathfinders

    6 Pathfinders

    5 Fire Dragons
    Exarch with Dragon's Breath
    Goes in Falcon

    5 Striking Scorpions
    Exarch with Scorpion's Claw
    [EDIT]
    Goes in Falcon

    8 Harlequins
    Shadowseer
    All Rending

    3x Falcon
    2x Shuriken Cannons
    Holofield
    Spirit Stones
    Vectored Engines

It looks like a mess to me. Help?

I don't play full mech, I use a semi-mech force. As far as I can tell a fully mechanised force works around a full squad of banshees and of scorpions, both mounted in serpents. This gives you a huge fist which you can slam into enemy flanks.

To back this up mounted avengers are always good but as your trying to steer away from them jetbikes are also a great option.

As you are only useing 1700pts it might vary slightly.

First of all drop the pathfinders and stick to your theme. Replace with bikes to back up your seer.

Maybe drop a falcon and replace it with a serpent and then boost you scorpions to 10. Or mount the harlies in it.

Fire dragons are ok, stick with them.

Drop the avengers and either leave yriel on his own in a falcon or replace them with something like banshees/scorpions.

    Hope this helps.

    Harlies cannot have a serpent.

My suggestion is to try Yriel with a squad of 10 stormies + warlock w/ enhance in a serpent. Seriously, this squad is like a hot knife through butter. Also, if they do happen to get overrun you do not feel too bad about laying down yriel's template.

I agree with $ick that the pathfinders have no place in a mech list.

Harlies should only have 4-5 kisses per squad to ensure that they do not get caught out in the open during your opponents turn.

Why would you give the exarch infiltrate if they are going into the falcon? The falcon cannot infiltrate...

I would consider the things that $ick and I said and make changes from their.

Okay, then. The only reason why I placed the pathfinders there in the first place was because I really liked them. But anyways.

    Revised list:
    Farseer
    Jetbike
    Singing Spear
    Doom

    Yriel
    Retinue:
    10 Storm Guardians
    2 Flamers
    Warlock with Enhance
    Goes in Wave Serpent

    3 Jetbikes
    Shuriken Cannon
    Warlock with Singing Spear, Destructor

    3 Jetbikes
    Shuriken Cannon
    Warlock with Singing Spear, Destructor

    5 Fire Dragons
    Exarch with Dragon's Breath
    Goes in Falcon

    5 Striking Scorpions
    Exarch with Scorpion's Claw
    Goes in Falcon

    8 Harlequins
    Shadowseer
    5 Kisses

    2x Falcon
    2x Shuriken Cannons
    Holofield
    Spirit Stones
    Vectored Engines

    Wave Serpent
    Bright Lance (EXPENSIVE)
    Shuriken Cannon
    Vectored Engines
    Spirit Stones

    Points: 1653/1700

Now this is a pickle. 47 odd points without much to burn it on. So much, yet so little.
Is there any way I can sneak in Pathfinders? I like the models, the fluff, and the models.
And I own six of them. Sigh.

bottom line is that pathfinders will not fit in, the rest of the list is mobile and they would be left behind.

Maybe use the odd points to add one bike to each of the units?

or consider adding the troop leader w/ power weapon to the harlies?

    give the scorps stalker?

upgrade the one shuriken cannon per falcon to a scatter laser?

There you go, now it's looking good.

I don't think you nned the shuricannon on the serpent. The bright lance is a good choice though, well done.

Perhaps add an extra scorpion and a fire dragon with your remaining points. or give you farseer stones and mindwar.

One more thing, drop the fire dragon exarch, you don't really need that flamer if you are going tank hunting with the dragons. You won't be going heavy infantry hunting because there is not enough of them.

    Other than that, nice list.

Pathfinders don't work? news to me. I've been playing mechanised /w pathfinders instead of jetbikes for 2 years now

Of course pathfinders can't keep up with the rest of the army, but they're static so they don't need to. As a matter of fact I'd say pathfinders work best in a mechanised army. They can infiltrate anywhere on the board with the knowledge that no matter how close they get they'll get re-enforcements soon.

It also works because when you only have 1 infantry unit on the board 3 guesses who your opponent is going to move towards... people that play eldar very rarely want to chase the skimmers and go for whatever they think they can get.

    I say go for pathfinders.

I would still drop the exarch with the dragons and actually switch destructor on the warlocks with the bikes to embolden. The reason for this is that after losing one bike you are going to have to take a LD test. With embolden they are less likely to cut and run.

Use the extra points to get one additional scorpion and dragon.

    otherwise looks good.

    @ Lordlink

If I were to take a single pathfinder squad, how many rangers will it take for it to be effective? I might want to bump this list to 1850.

    @ Ironangel

You're right: Embolden will be useful.

The maximum number of passengers in a Falcon is Six. I have five Striking Scorpions, plus Exarch. Unless I take a Serpent instead, I can't get seven.

    Should I?
