Welcome to Librarium Online!
I am new to tyranids and i am having a bit of trouble understanding some of the synapse rules.
1. do you need LOS for synapse?
2. Can you assault while in instinctive behavior or lurking?
3. Is failing synapse really that much of a problem which such high leadership?

Zoanthropes can get synapse as well for a price.I am new to tyranids (still putting together my battle force) and I have some questions about synapse. The only creatures with it are the hive tyrant, brood lord, and warriors, right? Not gargoyles, Genestealers. And the only creature that don't need it are rippers, biovores, and I was told gargoyles too but i cant find that anywhere in the codex.
I would say you can't assault if you were lurking, but then again I've never seen official ruling on it.
Synapse generally isn't a problem, as long as you have at least three strong points of synapse.Do LOS & assault play into what? How does the chain go for synapse? i know that at the start of the movement phase you measure for distance if not you can choose one of three options: lurk, instinctive behavior which is basically a leadership test. And if you fail you have to run to the nearest synapse creature not the table edge (unless the creature is fearless which means it just stays there)?Does LoS play into this? Assault?
Legion Of Everblight: Abyslonia
Protectorate of Menoth: Grand Exemplar Kreoss
Sorry I should have been more clear. Do you need LoS for synapse? And can you assault when in instinctive behavior?
Lone Wolves (Space Wolves) - 2092 pts
Hive Fleet Basilisk (Tyranids) - 1767 pts
Chaos Fleet - 900 pts
So can you assault if you are lurking or in instinctive behavior?
Hmm.. while it's fine asking for rules clarifications.. these are questions which I feel are clearly answered in the codex.
So please read your codex very carefully and multiple times. If you don't understand it the first time, don' t worry - the nid codex is very complex.
GW is very funny with the amount of rules we can release on LO Forums and the like.
Sorry I forgot about the rules for posting rules, cause i am having a bit of a time understanding the exact synapse rules. I will go back and edit my post.
No worries champ. No one's angry with you.
P.s. page 28 nid codex - instinctive behaviour section.
There is no mention of Assault under the Instinctive Behavior rules in the codex.
The question is a good one and deserves a good answer rather than sending the questioner off on a wild goose chase to a rule book without answers.
Its this sort of thing that serves as an entry barrier to new players and gives the game a bad name. (Well that and grognards with bad hygiene.)
Assaulting counts as movement so if try to you have to make morale as normal.
That's not really breaking rules Karmoon, things get a lot more shady in the rules section.
Be aware carnifex's suffer from lack of synapse too.
