The £100 Megaforce
The £50 Battleforce
The Battleforce with boxsets added on to make Megaforce
I recently purchased the Tau Megaforce from GW yesterday and although im satisfied with it, is it really worth all that cash?
So whats better value to start off a Tau army?
Or the Battleforce with boxes bought seperately to make Megaforce?
The Megaforce is an excellent thing to start with as it gives you the solid suits, fire warriors, devilfish, hammerhead, and drone squads. I'd say one of them and a few more battlesuits/kroot/devilfish/hammerhead and you'll be awesome.
I started off with the old Tau battleforce that came with kroot, fire warriors, drone squad, and 3 suits. I forget what else but it worked fine for me.

The current Megaforce gives you three Piranhas, so, to answer your question... only if you would field Piranhas should you buy it. If you aren't going to field them, I'd rather get the Battleforce.
That said, if you aren't going to be using Devilfish or Kroot, it might not be worth it to get either... But overall, I'd say run with the Battleforce unless you're set on some Piranhas in your army. It's a great buy.
The Skyray. Best buy ever, as you get the kit for the Devilfish, Hammerhead and Skyray, for the same cost as a devilfish box. Go buy.
My gaming group's new motto: That army you're using is overpowered because it hurts my guys, codex is broken and needs a rewrite.
