My younger brother is a Necron player and is content on getting the Nightbringer for his army, But I've told him time and time again that the Deceiver is C'tan for the victorious.
Let's consider the 'Good' things for the Nightbringer: He has ranged attack, he is a cool looking model, etc.
Now the Deceiver: having the ability to rearrange your army can (and possibly will) save you from certain death, being able to leave combat I consider cowardly, but none the less, an effective way to stop your opponent from getting VC's (victory points).
They are both great centrepeice models for anyones Collection, and have a lot in common with each other (rules wise).
Here is the perpose of this thread: to convince my brother to get and use the Deceiver.
For the Waaaggh!
Now Shove off all you deciever players! I would suggest the sheer pychological effect of even fielding a NB is worth its wieght in points! Just field him in the one area of the playing field you DONT want your player in, and wazzam, no opponents in the region! He's great for secure and control missions, and when i slap him down in front of my phlanax, my opponents give it pause to even get near my meta' boyz.
PM me about Aurora Prime Vassal fights! Willing and ready!
Hey Albino! You... wait...... ENEMY!
*slaps Albino with pure white glove*
I, Sir, challenge you to a duel. Your Mr NB vs My Decie... wait, we can be friends, yeeees! But that other C'tan is our enemy, he will ruin us, we can't have that can we! Lets go hunt him together!
*sneaks off whilst Mr NB does my dirtywork*
See? Deciever is much more Intelligent! Obviously, you should always go with the Deciever
anyone who knows how to play, will just shoot everything else when playing against the nightbringer, and it's slow and, a nidzilla army would be able to use volumes of high power fiirepower to easily destroy it, and them BAM! phase out!
the deciever is more effective with the decieve ability and is less points, and if someone goes all out to kill it, So what? unlike the nightbringer I'm not phasing out!
Create flames for a galaxy and it will be warm. Put a galaxy in flames and it will be warm for the rest of it's existence.
Deceiver all the way far better ability wise, he can get into combat a lot faster by using his ability to withdraw from combat after charging infiltrators. Also for about the same cost, you can get aheavy destroyer too, to make up for the ranged attack the NB has.
Deceiver, all the way.
- His unique abilities add much to the tactical flavor of the army he joins (this reason alone should be persuasion enough).
- He's cheaper.
- He has a better Initiative.
- As jONESIE pointed out, opponents don't seem to object to him as much.
