Welcome to Librarium Online!
[start rant]Just got new chaos codex as I intend to collect a thousand son's army.
Its bad news for us again, every army is getting really overpowered, I can honestly say
that the CSM codex is gonna be nightmarish for us to fight against.
We need a new codex now . How can we be expected to contend as a decent army anymore, we are getting seriously left way behind. Not only on options and choices but also on a tactical area aswell. We Are continuosly being pushed to extreme's where only a handful of tactics really work for us.
I wish GW would wake up, they have got good fluff surrounding us DE and majority of gamer's love it. Yeah they screwed it up first time because of terrible looking models and crap rules that seemed good at the time. They are scared to make the same mistake twice with us, Its really a pity i hope they re-do DE after orks or im gonna be mega pissed, I love my piratical fleet. *sigh* [end rant]

If you're always worried about crushing the ants beneath you...you won't be able to walk.
i may not be a dark eldar player but like dark eldar(not as bad tho) guard doesnt have too much to contend with chaos(other than chaos vehicles but so can u) i hate those hordes of high initiative fast moving units(like dark eldar cept you dont get hordes) i have a friend who playes dark eldar and is the only one who plays it at the store i go to play at and i have read through his codex a lot(nightmare doll sucks) and have a reasonable idea what you have to deal with(guardsmen are worse than dark eldar man for man) so i have a reasonable idea so the older codex players will have to wait and hope for a codex in a few years(ps dont feel so left behind a power fist for a Guardsmen costs 25 pts which is over priced for a guardsman who will get 1 maybe 2 rounds with it before dying we need a redo too...........ever notice the older codex= more even battle every battle against my dark eldar friend and we end game with the victor not having more than 5 unit's left alive(last game he ended with his command squad, a raider, and a hurt squad of scourges..........)

As for the codex, even the space marine players are in awe. No, it doesnt look good but for me it never looked good anyway so our "generalship" will be our only weapon. I agree though, I didnt think they needed to be stronger but rather just organized - they got both. I believe that even our cheesiest list would barely compete against a good chaos general with a balanced list.
Chin up, suck in your gut because its "GO" time, no mercy.
The fact that even space marines are in awe is not good. Worse, I watched a chaos undivided player with a pretty balanced list butcher my friends eldar light vehicle list. On the bright side, apparently the GW team has orks about done and is tossing ideas for a DE update in the next year around.
I have yet to see the codex but from what my friend in GW says they are very brutal. I believe the age of Marine-hammer (Like hero-hammer back in 5th ed WHFB but worse) has truly arrived.
I will get a look at the codex on tuesday probably and I have a very bad feeling that my friends who are starting CSM are going to be very difficult (if not impossible) to beat or even play well against.
As for our codex, I fear it. I do not like the idea of any drastic changes or whatever - if our codex changes alot, I will be moving on to all-Kroot army (until they change that one).
Actually, what are you complaining about?? Have you played against the new chaos??? I have, been playing several games with them and i have to say that it's easier to beat because it's smaller.
We don't NEED a new codex, our codex is just fine, abit outdated here and there, but lets face it, we really rape marines. So the new chaos codex doesn't bug me much, the only way it bugged me is that now Chaos Undivided is called a very gay name, Chaos Glory(wtf?!) and now the old Legions don't have their special rules...and i wanted to start night lords.
In terms of playing against the new chaos, i like it, the list feels very fresh and very nice and streamlined. It's something i'm starting to like a lot really, the armies that have received updates actually seem a lot cooler(BA, sure they got harder to play, but they are definitely much more fun now). And if they do change DE, it's going to be a buff(not something i totally like), why? because the rich kids who can beg their parents for absolutely ANYTHING won't want to play something they keep losing with.

From what i have heard, the only thing that we will have to worry about is the codex for daemons. Those in the original chaos codex will be greatly degraded, while those in the new one will be extremely powerfull. But dont foget, these demons are going to be made not just for standard 1-2k games but with a great lean towards Apocalypse, so I we can expect very high points costs. Overall the balance will be more or less maintained, as even though they will be strong, they will be few. And like the rules book says-large and cubersome get quickly dispatched off by the fast and the agile.
Who cares, the better the enemy -> the more players -> the more people to beat.

I think our lack of an update is both a dis-advantage as much as it is an advantage, the percentage of players that play Dark Eldar is quite a small amount which makes us a rare army to face giving us the element of mystery to our advantage, people do not know how to face our army unless they have been playing for a considerable amount of time which is one the reason that I decided to take up the Dark Eldar as my choice of an army.
Sure, a new Codex would be nice, neaten up the rules, perhaps give the Hellion a better description and some new shiny rules to give them a fighting change on becoming a more essential part of the army, also make the Scourges more practical with their purpose, heavy weapons and jump packs are a silly thing to do, they seem to obstruct each other, either move 12" or stand still and shoot with the Dark Lance, I have the feeling that they alternately give them blasters instead, Grotesques are also going to be nerfed in the new codex I believe, their Feel no pain may be modified to not be an absolutely invulnerable to fire from bolters, las-rifles, etc. Mandrakes as well.. And the list goes on.. Etc.
From what I have seen so far, Dark Eldar are a powerful force still and compared to other armies still have a fighting chance with our Codex, but if it means that Games Workshop shall neaten up some of our models and have all of the Dark Eldar models such as the Warp Beats, Grotesques and the Lords then I say "Bring on the new codex!" )
