I suppose gargs are pretty sweet points wise and they are super fast! Flying warriors are cool to they have synapse and can be awesome in cc but my fav fast attack choice has to be *cough cough* Red *cough* Terror

Gargoyles are poo. Unless... they were mutated gaunts with wings and scything talons... What a great idea... I can hear it now, the staff at my local store chanting "beardy! beardy!"

gargs are relatively poor but they are incredibly fast! idea if there are any objectives to sweep late on in the game, also gargsare very points effecient, its impossible to create a gaunt with identical stats to a garg without spending more points than the garg... if you get what I mean. Gargs get Ld10 for free, no need to spend 10pts on hive node... thats another 2 spinegaunts you can add to your list

Gargs are great - for the same points as hormagaunts you get wings instead of 12" charge (difficult terrain being their only real disadvantage), bioplasma instead of scything talons (the plasma is clearly superior), and a fleshborer for free.

Gargoyles are a great deal for the points, if the models were cheaper moneywise then i'd use them instead of hormagaunts.

For the points, nothing can beat Gargs.

Quite frankly, Monsieur, Winged ScyTal Gaunts are poo... Gaunt + Wings + ScyTal costs 10 points, the same as a Gargoyle. And You still need to pay points for the Hive Node!

That's not all, since the Garg is more versatile and better in CC than the Winged ST Gaunt!

Comparison:

Poopygaunt (Wings, ST)

Assault: 3 attacks at Initiative.

CC: 2 attacks at Initiative.

Gargoyle:

Shoot: FBorer, if kills enemy, they don't get to strike back.
Assault: Bioplasma, 1 attack at Init (2 attacks if didn't shoot).
CC: Bioplasma, 1 attack at Init.

Enemy in Cover: Poopygaunts can't do poop. Gargoyles can at least fire the FBorers.

And for the same amount of conversion needed for the Poopygaunt, You could convert a Gargoyle!

So nothing beats Gargoyles.

Plastic Gargoyles made easy:

Leaping Gaunt body
ScyTal
FBorer
Greenstuff
Flying stand

Model the Wings with ScyTal + greenstuff.

Glue the Wings and FBorer on to Gaunt.

Model the Bioplasma with greenstuff.

Glue the Gargoyle on a flying stand.

Why use the Leaping body? Because that way You can use the rest of the Gaunt box to make Spinegaunts (Or Devourergaunts, should You be so inclined...).

gargs are good in big numbers, they are proberbly the best "destruction troops", once your enermy has turned to fire at the gargs you can just charge them down with your main army from the side

gargs are good in numbers, if u dont have enuf, they get ass kicked. use em as often as poss, but dont send em straight towards a line of heavy bolters. they only got T3 that u cant change, so be careful.

Im considering getting some gargs as I think that they are brilliant but like too much tyranid fast attack, too fragile, has anyone got any tactics using the gargs, or raveners or the red terror, also dont forget to put who your favourite is, that is the purpose of this thread.

Tactics for Gargs? They're cheap, so I use pretty much the same tactics as I use with Gaunts in general. Of course counting the fact that they're fast and can't enter difficult terrain...
