Welcome to Librarium Online!
I'm a Marine player myself, but my friend want's to play the nids ).
And we want to play a combat patrol. but...
Since you can't have any 2+ armor saves (so no zoantropes), where do they get there synapes
Thanks for reading
Warriors is his best bet, they have the legal limit in wounds and their save is also legal. They also provide the all important synapse. And in a combat patrol game, they are good for another reason, they are not to pricy , but a capable model just the same
if he wants to avoid synapse all together then he could go all genestealer ?
but, question, does he have a nid army? or the codex? everything you need to know is in the codex
you can get synapse from : Hive tyrant , Zoanthrope, and warriors.
Hope that answers your question
He has the codex and a small unpainted army
But we forgot about the warriors :p
Thx for answering
If you both want a good a game, DONT play combat patrol, its rather unfair on the tyranid player, Most Nid players avoid combat patrol like the black death as it takes away every single reason why some one would chose nids as an army in the first place.
My advice play a small 500pt or 750pt game and use normal selections from your codex, at least then both players will be on an even footing and it will help both the marine and tyranid player develop a much better army for the larger games.
Army of the heavens, my army waits in hell
To battle on the earth, for all the souls who fell
I find that at 500pts the Patrol restrictions still keep the game balanced as it also means there won't be any overtly tough vehicles, Terminators, etc in play. I also think that it also isn't significantly larger from the usual Patrol sized games to warrant Monstrous Creatures and the like from a fluff standpoint.
At 750pts, the regular rules play fine for me.
