HOW???? Now as we all know Gw cases were designed for well sm,csm, some eldar, and Ig. Armies like the tau, nids, necrons, etc all suffer from elongated weapons or bodies to where transporting is an issue...So while Im working on making these little creepies as best as I can the aspect of getting from point a to b and back be comes a concern....
So if you know any companies products or suggestions on this pls link list and advise. The help I have gotthen here has saved me so much time and effort
I own the small GW suitcase.
Spinegaunts, if they don't sport an extravagant pose, fit nicely.
Hormagautns and genestealers OTOH stick out a little, but are not damaged, as the foam bends around them.
For models like zoanthropes, you just have to link to 'cells', vertically if you look at it as 2D, by cutting the foam in bewteen away.
My walking/shooty warriors fit nice enough in two cells linked horizontally.
for the bigger stuff I made a makeshift boy, which I am not too happy with.
Just a crardboard box with fleece on its interior walls.
Crumbled papers as filler.
I place my carnifexes, lictor and flying warriors inside that one.
I am keeping my eyes open for replacement.
Eventually I might buy a second suitcase and just cut a large enough compartement from the foam.
I use one of the old-school GW cases, with the grey egg-crate foam lining. Since it doesn't have individual slots, it's perfect for all gaunts, zoanthropes, genestealers, broodlord, and rippers. As long as you model the gaunts with their arms pointing ahead, and not sticking out to the sides. It also can't fit warriors, TMC's, or raveners, whose poses are too three-dimensional to simply sandwich between 2 layers of foam. For these puppies, I use an old Tesco Steam Iron box, and I wrap each model individually in bubblewrap before stacking them in the box. Not very professional looking, but it works. Like Ladon, I plan to get something better eventually, but hey, the Steam Iron box has worked fine for me for over a year now.
Tyranids: 2500 pts
Imperial Guard: 1000 pts
Witch Hunters: 1000 pts
I use two GW suitcases, one is the standard one that i use for my gaunts stealers etc (some of the old stealers require two spots, but an exacto and a little bit of work clear that issue right up).
As for the big boys, I use the GW "tank" case. It has a bunch of cutoutable foam bits so you can design your own spaces to fit your models into. It's a bit pricey, but it works fairly well for me.

I use a Sabol Army Transport, specifically the Motorpool. You can get it to come with various sizes of "cut-it-yourself" foam. With the package deal that included the foam, I was able to fit my entire army comfortably. Just to give ya an idea, I have:
3 fexes (2 sniper, 1 dakka)
9 warriors(DSs and a VC)
and a few ripper swarms I never use.
Their foam trays can be a little pricey bought separately, but they're the same price regardless of size, and getting it with the foam should get ya what ya need and save ya some $$$.
EDIT: Almost forgot, that case also has nice pouches for your Codex/lists and all your dice, measuring tapes, etc.

I use plastic tupperware-esque boxes. Each box holds one unit of genestealers/gaunts. All those models kind of pad them selves and don't move around too much. I then place all the units I'm going to use in a plastic file organizer box. Carnifexes, hive tyarnts, and zoanthropes I put magnets on the bottom of these models. Then I found a large plastic box and glued steel fender washers to the bottom of it. That model box can be turned upside down without a model falling out. I thought about putting magnets on the underside of each gaunt and doing something similiar, but decided that it would be too frustrating to have 32 gaunts all decide they wanted to mate in the middle of one of my games. I can take pics if anyone is curious and thinks my descriptions too vague.

I had the same problem not more thatn two weeks ago.
In the end i used my figures in comfort case, and ordered foam which i could cut away and pack accordingly.
i STRONGLY recommend that you magnetise your fexes and HT's.. it makes transporting them a LOT easier.
Lictors and warriors take up MASSIVE amounts of room, because they're spikey.

A few cautions about the Motor Pool Army Transport:
If you have any barbed bits (thornbacks, barbed armor plates, etc.) getting your critters out can sometimes be the issue. They survive the trip, but it might catch in the foam. To deal with it, I pulled out a greater volume, then back the lower portion of the figurines with the removed foam section. It's a mitigation to the problem, but not the best solution.
As for Gaunts, 'Stealers, and other units that I have less fear of falling apart/getting destroyed on transport, I create a foam 'bin' for each, with a little of the leftover foam pieces to add to the cushioning. Doesn't hurt 'em in the slightest, and you save on a flat foam pallet that you could use for other things. I think I put in 9 warriors, 40+ gaunts, 16 'stealers, 3 'thropes, a pair of 'fexes and a HT, and still had a couple foam blocks left. Probably won't fit as much with a winged HT, though. Winged monstrosity might not fit in the case, come to think of it, but when does it ever? Hormagaunts could benefit from a little extra care, due to their narrow ankle join to the ground.
Despite all these downsides, I like mine, and It's a good, flexible value for my money. Should I ever feel like starting another army, I don't have to get an all new box, just foam.
Do not meddle in the affairs of Tyranids, for you are crunchy, and good with ketchup.
